US and Iran Sign Deal to End War, Says Trump

The U.S. and Iran have agreed on a deal ending the war, which started with joint American and Israeli strikes on the Islamic Republic on February 28.

President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on Sunday:

"The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!"

There was no immediate official confirmation from Iran.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, whose country has mediated negotiations, announced the deal as well on Sunday, writing on X:

"Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The official signing ceremony will be on Friday, 19 June in Switzerland."

The details of the agreement were not immediately released.

The signing appeared in doubt earlier in the day after Israel struck Beirut’s suburbs in response to attacks from Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group in Lebanon. The attack angered Trump, who said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had “no judgment.”

CBS Cancels 4 Shows: Full List and Ratings

CBS has cancelled four shows as part of its latest schedule changes, including the long-running The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and newer series that have failed to get traction.

The network announced its new schedule for the 2026-2027 season, which showed 19 returning series and four new series.

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach said about the cancellations of DMV and Watson that the shows were “a joy to work on,” but said “it’s a high bar on CBS. We aggregate all the numbers, and we have to make those tough decisions in order to make room for new shows.”

CDC Warns of Recalled Formula After Babies Hospitalized for Botulism

A multistate outbreak of infant botulism has prompted a nationwide recall of a specific powdered baby formula. Federal health officials are urging parents and caregivers to cease using the product immediately following the hospitalization of three infants.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the three cases spanning California, Pennsylvania, and Washington have been linked to the consumption of the same formula brand from Nara Organics. This has triggered an active, ongoing investigation by the CDC and the FDA, alongside state health departments, into the source and scope of the contamination.

"The health of all babies is our first priority, and for that reason, we’re issuing a voluntary recall for all cans of Nara Organics infant formula currently available in the U.S.," Nara Organics said in an email statement to Newsweek on Sunday, confirming that they were notified by the FDA about the botulism cases. "We are heartbroken for the concern and stress this may cause your family."

They added: "As of today, no Nara formula has tested positive for C. Botulinum. We believe in taking the strongest possible measure to protect the safety of babies. That’s why we quickly decided, in an abundance of caution, to voluntarily recall all Nara Organics infant formula currently available in the U.S."

Infant botulism is rare but can be severe or even fatal if not treated quickly. It occurs when babies ingest spores of Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium that produces toxins attacking the nervous system. All three infants affected in the June 2026 outbreak were hospitalized and required treatment, though no deaths have been reported.

The FDA said in an advisory that the formula makes up less than 1 percent of all infant formula sold in the country and noted the recall should not create a shortage.

The cases highlight ongoing safety concerns surrounding powdered infant formula, particularly after a separate outbreak linked to a different brand in late 2025 sickened dozens of infants nationwide. Public health officials emphasize that because symptoms can take several weeks to manifest, tracing the illness back to contaminated formula can be challenging for families.

MISSOURI PLANE CRASH

Missouri Plane Crash: 12 Dead in ‘Brutal’ Scene

All 12 people aboard a skydiving plane have died after it crashed near Butler Memorial Airport in Missouri on Sunday, according to officials.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. local time about 65 miles south of Kansas City, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

Multiple agencies, including the MSHP, the Butler Police Department and the Bates County Sheriff’s Office are on scene after a 911 call was placed about a downed plane engulfed in fire, MSHP Sergeant Justin Ewing said.

Ewing explained the plane "landed in a field adjacent to the airport," adding that first responders were able to extinguish the blaze and roads in the area will be closed as the investigation continues.

The identities of the deceased and the cause of the crash were not immediately available.

A spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) told Newsweek in an email Sunday that it will investigate the incident, along with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which is taking the lead.

Teams from both agencies are already en route to the crash scene, according to an X post from the MSHP.

Once investigators arrive in Butler, they will document the scene and examine the aircraft, Jennifer Gabris, a spokesperson for the NTSB, told Newsweek in an email Sunday.

"Part of the investigation will be to request radar data, weather information, maintenance records and the pilot’s medical records," she said. "NTSB investigators will look at the human, machine and environment as the outline of the investigation."

3D-Printed Guns Targeted by New York Law—What It Means

A new law in New York is taking aim at a fast-growing source of untraceable weapons: Guns made using 3D printers.

The new policy, first unveiled by Governor Kathy Hochul as part of her 2026 State of the State agenda, includes a first-of-its-kind proposal to mandate safety standards for 3D printers, sold for home or business use, which are designed to block the production of firearms and key gun components.

The move reflects growing concern among lawmakers and law enforcement about so-called “ghost guns,” which are homemade firearms that typically lack serial numbers and are, therefore, difficult to trace once used in crimes.

“Public safety is my top priority,” Hochul said when announcing the plan. “As gun technology continues to evolve, so do our strongest-in-the-nation gun laws.”

What the New Law Would Do

Unlike previous gun laws focused on buyers or manufacturers, the New York measure targets the technology itself.

Under the proposal—alongside establishing minimum safety standards for 3D printer manufacturers, aimed at preventing the devices from producing firearms or firearm parts—the broader legislative package also includes:

• Making it a crime to sell, share, or possess unlicensed digital instructions for producing firearms or gun parts.
  
• Requiring law enforcement to report all recovered 3D‑printed guns to a Criminal Gun Clearinghouse database, which is maintained by the New York State Police.
  
• Directing gunmakers to design pistols that cannot be quickly or easily modified into ghost guns (e.g., using Glock switches).

Cluster of Earthquakes Hits Philippines Days After Deadly Quake

A series of moderate earthquakes rattled the southern Philippines over the weekend, the latest aftershocks in a region still reeling from a powerful magnitude 7.8 quake that struck just days ago, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

At least five earthquakes with magnitudes between 4.6 and 5.2 were recorded near the island of Mindanao between Saturday and Sunday, including a magnitude 5.2 quake east-northeast of Hinatuan and a magnitude 5.0 tremor near Sarangani. The USGS reported the quakes struck at depths ranging from 21 to 44 miles.

The new shaking comes as communities continue to assess damage from last week’s devastating earthquake, which killed at least 37 people and displaced an estimated 20,000 others. That massive temblor triggered tsunami warnings, collapsed buildings, and caused significant "coastal uplift"—a geological phenomenon where tectonic movement forces coastal land upward. In some locations, the country's environmental department reported that shorelines extended by up to 65 feet, exposing long stretches of coral reefs and seagrass beds.

Seismologists warn that the region is tectonically active and has a long history of major earthquakes, with dozens of magnitude 7 or larger quakes recorded within a few hundred kilometers over the past century.

The ongoing aftershock sequence raises immediate concerns about landslides, disruptions to recovery efforts, and the potential collapse of structures already weakened by the initial quake.
