Howdy folks, just here to find a place to discuss RPG Makerin' what with RMW on the way out. Niche old school forums are very much my preferred online speed, as reddit seems too big to really "participate" (apart from the Frisky Dingo sub) and facebook is too "real" and stressful, so I'm looking forward to dipping my toe in here, and that I'll get some motivation to really start hitting my RM project hard

*HOWUU* Translation from Lycan (Welcome in)
We try to be chill here, though there will typically be a few .... colorful individuals. But, what place doesn't have one or two around?
Do you fancy a particular type of game? And do you have one in the works?

Thanks for the welcome! I guess to play I mostly prefer your standard old-school FF 1-6 style fantasy aesthetics, with Lunar being my absolute favorite, but I like RPG Maker games from all kinds of settings, like Sentience: The Android's Tale on Steam. Looking at my next paragraph it does seem like my project ideas tend to lean "anywhere but medieval fantasy", probably because I'd want them to stand out a bit.
Sadly most of my projects with real but mostly negligible progress got lost with an old computer in a move. I've got a little demo I've worked with my kids on just a town and a forest, and now I'm getting back to the game idea I had made the most progress on, a samurai revenge romp of a ronin trying to avenge his master, that sort of deal. I've also got a couple ideas kicking around for a sci-fi "Wake upon on colony ship, things is bad" or even something in early 1900s Russia imagining the Tunguska Event as the opening salvo of a galactic war we're in the way of.
I also made some progress on a Cthulhu-themed noir detective thing using Pioneer Valley's assets in VX ACE, don't know how well they'd scale to MZ though.
Anyhow, there's my full scattershot of ideas lol, just need to sit down and organize assets, figure out an efficient pipeline to convert assets to MV/MZ and then get cracking :)

Yeah, I've crossed that very same bridge long time ago.

Welcome to the forum! I got here in a similar way and reason as you: niche forums feel more cozy than the other, louder places. I also had an old project from the 2000s that I rediscovered and the fine folks here at Save Point (specially DerVV and kyonides!) have really helped with its development.
You'll find a lot of resources here. Good luck with your project and I hope your kids have a lot of fun making your game!
