Sharing My Original Music and Sound FX - Over 2000 Tracks
You're going to laugh; "The Fabled Forest" reminds me of a Black Label Society song "Sick of it All" (which, incidentally, expresses how I feel about life, politics, the human condition, etc. However, I won't go there, too heavy of a subject LOL)

Good track. I like a few of your tracks. Good progressions, good mixing, the looping is perfect.

So you're going to do sound effects? I no longer use public sound effects but when I did I had trouble finding general "magic" sounds (probably because I didn't know the terms to look for).

My secret weapons of choice are the Blue Snowball (for home recording - plug it into your PC and use Audacity or another software) and a Philips DVT 1250 (for recording sounds on the go.)

I also have a number of cheap microphones I've found at Goodwill (they weren't cheap when they were new O.O Condenser mic MSRP $1200 WHAT?! I got it for $5.00.)

I don't know how to explain "magic" sounds, as it's not simply a burning flame and it's not breaking ice or the clap of thunderbolt. Certainly, those could be considered magic sounds, yes, but I consider them more magic elements than magic sounds. A lightning bolt is a magic element, it goes BOOM, but what of blessings and curses? What of the charging of a spell? What is the difference between a physical punch and a Psi Energy Punch?

Granted, any sound is a good sound; the poking of a potato (stab), the snapping of celery (broken bones). These have already been done before, and it doesn't hurt to do them again; you might get a better sample than I or anybody else did. You might put better after-touches on the sound than what you've found elsewhere. It's always good to record your own sounds.

Machine foley is another good subject to build sound effects for. I recall watching a behind-the-scenes of the development of, as far as I recall, Xenogears. Whoever was doing the documentary video, they were with the sound engineer and he was using all kinds of metallic items to make the shifting of machine gears, the closing of a cockpit, the raising and lowering of hydraulic systems, etc. He was slapping metal chunks together, fiddling with a door hinge, scraping things. It was a jolly good time.

Take care and I wish you luck in all your ventures.
