The weight is actually in the handle, not the blade, so that character of Lani's might have more ease at picking it up than you think. But I have been familiar with swords for years.
That may be the case for yours, but every video I've seen of people making Cloud's bigass sword and Sephiroths 9-foot katana as well as the creation of several other large and long blades (including Sora's Keyblade, shudder), have effectively *demonstrated* their impracticality.

There is a cost to originality and practicality, that must be balanced. That is all I say to keep in mind. Now mind you, JRPGs have a habit of Big Fucking Swords™ and the like, so it is almost expected. Just be aware of how obviously impractical they are.

Impractical does not mean it's not been done.
There have been actual weapons and armor in the past that were unbalanced and inefficient in some ways, Remember knights in medieval battles in their heavy platemail and everyhting? Quite a few had it in such a way that were not able to seat themself on a horse without help.
In case of these oversized swords, they are based on Zanbatōs, which actually did exist. Maybe not quite as huge, but huge none the less.

On my mind...
*groooaaaan* on holiday and I got sick. T-T

Also on my mind...
When we get to 300 pages for this thread, maybe we should start a new "What's on your mind" thread...

The Zanbato does not exist as it is a Naruto sword... you think of the nodachi or that one chinese sword zhǎn mǎ dāo...
In anycase, heavy platemail isn't impractical as it still has major uses, which is protection. Impractical armour would be armour that exposes midriff for the sake of attractiveness or whatever. Impractical things do not last very long in history, as their uselessness is soon found out. Anyone who has studied basic physics know that Cloud's sword is impossible to use effectively, that Sora's keyblade has a useless handguard and that some other blade designs are bad.

Ahzoh, I would think you should just let things go.
I already said I didn't make the battler, so complain to the maker, not on here, to us, about "Practicality" or whatever.
You don't know the specific make of the blade in my game, so if I do use the character with the giant sword, then there would be a reason for why he can wield it. I will not spoil that now.

Also, Cloud was powered by Mako, so him lifting a giant sword with ease isn't too big of a surprise, really. Still don't know why he couldn't do a pull-up, though, which is the only blight I've seen in the continuity of Cloud's strength. (He had to have help pulling himself up, yet he can lift the blade like it's nothing?)

And yes, Zanbato are fictional, but they are based on real swords that aren't as large, but are still large. And Zanbato aren't just limited to Naruto, either.

I really try to stay out of things, but you keep perpetuating things you start, for whatever reason. Just leave it alone.

Thanks Sweat

Now, back to my thoughts...

I made a backup about 2 weeks ago for my game, and for some reason, the Data and Graphics folders disappeared from the file a week ago.
I tried to search for it in the Undelete program, but it wasn't there! (Which means it was never deleted!)
There were no hidden files, and it wasn't moved anywhere else on the computer...

The mystery still has me stumped to this day Confused

Zanbatōs actually are a real thing.
They are not as oversized as they are in many Mangas/Animes but sill.

- And there was something else I wanted to talk about. Which I forgot....XD' I shall edit later.
