Old is new once more, if you asked DerVVulfman "What Are Youtubing?" this week. Recently, he found another Tom and Jerry cartoon skit that was reworked with new, yet now-familiar, faces once more.

For the U.S., the News of the World was mostly over House Speaker Johnson agreeing to foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel and backing now-controversial FISA warrants and his refrain from securing the southern border, such causing many Republicans to cry foul. But other U.S. news was the beginning of Former President Trump's New York court case, over 90 Jurors had to be scoured through to fill the minimum 12 Juror, 6 alternate quota. And during that time, some attempted to delete online histories to hide their bias against the former President. After Iran's assault against Israel with a 300-drone salvo, Israel eventually launched targeted strikes in Southern Iran around airports and suspected nuclear facilities. As Saudi Arabia sees it, Iran is behind the Gaza war. And after Germany's Parliament Speaker displayed anti-Israeli sentiment, calls for his resignation exploded. Meanwhile, U.S. President Biden took credit that he prevented Israel from invading Haifa, despite Haifa being a city in Israel itself. But more recently, more scepticism rose when Biden claimed his uncle was eaten by cannibals after crashing his plane around New Guinea. Violence and anti-semetic protest hit the streets everywhere, college students protesting as they chose to side with Hamas itself, and stabbings in Australia connected to terrorism occur while 'Gas the Jews' rallies return in Sydney. Human trafficking continues to harass nations, over 1000 in New York illegally demanding Green Cards as they also demand less police. DHS Mayorkas grilled over fliers given to Illegal Aliens to re-elect Biden, Canada sees new records in illegal apprehensions last month with nearly half from India alone. Paris removing migrant camps just short of the Olympics. And an EU chief lays claim that Russia is the one spearheading illegal immigration to destabilize Europe. The war between Ukraine and Russia continues. Aid packages from the U.S., fighters from Denmark, and the recent downing of a Russian Strategic Bomber strengthen's Ukraine's stance. However, President Zelensky cannot let his guard down as Poland Security foiled Russia's latest assassination attempt. The NPR Editor who lamented over RussiaGate last week now suspended over calling out the media, Qatar re-evaluating Israel/Hamas mediations amidst election politics, Mexico's media engine silent over a border city's kidnapping spree, Haiti seeking billions in reparations over France's slavery of their citizens and the extorted 'indemnity' fee, troops abandoned in Niger by the U.S. State Department, over $8.5 Million in Heroin originating from Iran seized by Bulgarian officials, and more hit this week's news.

This week, Electric Vehicles hit major roadblocks in the News of the Cyber World, be it plunging sales worldwide, Former Obama chiefs calling out the venture as a job killer, or recent dangerous flaws. Complaints about AI hit the arts as Netflix was accused of using AI generated images in documentaries while movie distributor with a strong reputation sponsoring indie companies gets backlash for using AI art for promtional artwork for movies. And China works to put a stranglehold over social media, launching its Instagram-Killer and ordering Apple itself to censor free speech. How Wikipedia was ruined by NPR's CEO, Meta's newest AI bot impersonating humans online, Apple's feud with Fortnite's owner over a 2021 injunction, the Miss "Artificial Intelligence" Beauty Pagent, and more hit this week's cybernews.

This week, FBI Director Wray said at a security conference that Chinese Hackers, working on behalf of their government, have made plans to establish the U.S.'s infrastructure. Wray spoke extensively about Volt Typhoon's massive hacking operation, and their intended tactic to induce panic among the American populous as China plans to dominate the world stage.

Coming into Save-Point, you get to know What's Up among some of the RMers around. And this past week, Remi-chan had been working upon a revised collection of pamphlets for Fantasia's menu sytem, all 104 now been completely revised. Yuo can watch her youtube video to see how the animated pamphlets will appear.

Within the Ruby Scripting topic, kyonides describes how a party applying a skill or item upon its own party members as error prone. That is not to say that the basic mechanics is itself in error, but that additional code may be desired if one were to make a custom damaging effect work upon their foes rather than the accidental application of their own squad.

An update was made to kyonides' KItemTeachSkill collection of scripts. Now it is possible to remove the item that grants the player access to the skill, thus reversing the process. And for those using the RPGMaker XP edition, a bug was made in relation to a residual item garnered.

Based on a script by RD12 over a decade ago, DerVVulfman released Terra Blocks: Terraria Styled Block Engine. A sideview system, you have the ability to destroy actual map tiles, or add new tiles based on material in your inventory. Axes can be set up to chop down trees. Add shovels to dig through dirt, or pick axes to go through stone. However, there is no ABS system like Minecraft or Terraria.

Well, that's it for this week.

Terra Blocks
Terraria Styled Block Engine

Version: 1.0
Based on RD12's April 2013 release

Introduction

This system is a sideview platform engine that lets the player eliminate and re-apply map tiles, similar to Minecraft or Terraria. It is a basic engine, not including any ABS-like battle system which Minecraft or Terraria uses. Nor does it allow the player to create operational event objects such as doors, furnaces, or other objects that can be triggered.

That would be up to the end-user.

The use of a Dynamic Maps script, a script that allows the recording of map conditions and settings is advised. Without such a script, any changes made by the player would not be saved when moving between maps or within recorded save games.

Features
  • Actually DESTROY map tiles!
  • Actually PLACE map tiles!
  • Detects if the map is a Terra-Block map or normal map when teleporting

Requires
  • Compatible mouse system that includes 'press' input
  • Dynamic Maps script to record/save changes

Demo

DIG DUG ANYONE? (a Box.Com link)
Check the top-right corner of the screen for 'Download'.
Do not worry if it says you cannot preview a demo. That is normal.

Instructions
Way too many. So it's in the demo.

Compatibility
Overwrites the following:
  • Game_Map.passable?
  • Game_Character.update
  • Game_Player.update

Credits and Thanks

Thanks to RD12 for creating the basis for this system, including the map tile replacement feature. And thanks to Sweet Liar for the basis of the platform system which the system was modeled around.

Terms and Conditions

Free to use, even in commercial projects. Just note that I need some form of due credit... for both myself and to RD12 and Sweet Liar.

General Chat
The sudden Iranian drone attack against Israel blasted this week's News of the World, Iran snubbing U.S. President Biden's call for Iran not to strike and threatening Israel not to strike back after the drone assault. Israel's response was an attack on Iranian Hezbollah proxies in Lebanon, and the world's response was immediate condemnation of Iran. Of the drones, nearly all were shot down by Israel and allied forces. And of the billions that U.S. President Biden released to Iran for Humanitarian use, a senior treasury official said Iran indeed used it to forment violence. The war between Russia and Ukraine continues, Switzerland hosting a peace conference that Russia chose to ignore. And as the U.K. fast-tracks its Dragonfire lazer cannon (FOR REAL) to Ukrainian use, Russia attacks its powergrid in missile strikes. Ukraine, once again on the defensive, are calling for more help. The immigrant crisis worldwide has grown, more than half violent crimes including recently-arrested Isis-based child sex traffickers in Germany, spikes in "Honour-Crimes" rising by nearly 1000 incidents in the U.K., and losses of two dozen from recent Human-Trafficking in Italy had been reported. For the U.S., immigrations is front and center as DHS Mayorkas's impeachment trial will be within days. And while Mayorkas denies claims that U.S. President Biden is importing migrants to grow a Democrat majority, revealed this week was that $300 Million went to sanctuary cities to resettle Migrants while Biden flew in over 300,000 at taxpayer expense. This news is disturbing as new reports of those on Terror Watch lists appear while the FBI director warns of elevated threats to public safety. For U.S. President Biden, time is running out. CNN polls do not favor him, MSNBC's undecided voters have decided against his run, and most TV networks demand he take part in Presidential debates. And for Former President Biden, NPR (National Public Radio) laments they belived Ca-D Adam Schiff's "Russiagate" claims, a NY judge is reconsidering the Trump Gag order imposed by Judge Merchan whose daughter has connections to Schiff, and January 6 defendents released waiting for a Trump-based appeal. Insofar as China, they've been accused of flooding counterfeit postage stamps in the UK, found to have interfered in Canada's last two elections, began hijacking key U.N. agencies, and began combat patrols after seeing joint U.S., Japan, Australian exercises. The death of O.J. Simpson, a BlackLivesMatter fraudster's unbelievable £1 for stealing £70,000 from disadvantaged children, California restaurants fire cashiers for Kiosks over $20 minimum wage hike, last week's Hate Speech law turning the public against the Scottish National Party, attacks on reporters by both the New York Times and the Vatican, Columbia's water rationing, the $24 Billion meant for the homeless lost in California, and roughly 40 more articles hit this week's news.

Tech Talk
China and TikTok hit this week's News of the Cyber World as its revenues soared thanks to its international e-commerce applications, and its planned TikTok Notes becoming a threat to Instragram itself. The impact of Artificial Intelligence hits hard, threatening those who struggled for a Bachelor's degree only to find their entry-level WallStreet jobs automated. But there are those fighting back against AI, new developments to detect audio deepfakes awarded by the U.S. FTC (Federal Trade Commission), and a Cheat Detector discovering over twenty million AI plagairized term papers. Cheap Chinese exports, the FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) renewal, Japan's warning about AI, the U.K.'s ban on under-age smartphone use, and more hit this week's cybernews.

Along with them, she chose to reveal new character design of one of her minor antagonists courtesy of her artist-on-hire, Pjcr.

This week, kyonides ported KEventual for the RPGMaker VXAce engine, now having versions for all three Ruby-script engines of the RPGMaker line.

A minor correction was needed for the RPGMaker VXAce port of KItemTeachSkill. For its users, the display indicating who can or cannot learn the skill has been made more coherent. Along with that, kyonides took care of an error that allowed the display not to show at all.

Recently created for both RPGMaker VX and VXAce is kyonides's RPG::ME Extended script. An extension of the native Music Event system , it allows one to keep track of the ME currently playing, much like the background music or sound systems.

Have you ever wondered What's on the mind of friends in the community? It is worldwide, so when one asks if anyone felt the recent earthquake in New York, they may get a response.

Early this week, the News of the World spotlighted on the remnants of the Baltimore Bay Bridge toppled by a Singapore cargo vessel hitting a support pylon. Rubble cleared, transit vessels can now go through the Baltimore Harbor. But its estimated to take a decade to rebuild the bridge. Much news focused on Israel, with U.S. President Biden threatening to cut off support. But then an WCK aid convoy was struck by Israeli fire. The White House was quick to blame, itself refusing to accept its own responsibility in the 2021 Afghan drone strike. Amid pressure, Israel announced it was pulling out from southern Gaza, a victory for Hamas. But footage showed a gunman was on one of the busses earlier, and recent news suggests Hamas intended to make the convoy appear to be a viable target, the aid convoy's decals not visible at night during the attack. What is to be expected when even W.H.O run hospitals were used as Hamas Terror headquarters? Fighting continues between Russia and Ukraine, with more support going to the tiny nation that Vladimir Putin underestimated. France sent armored vehicles as NATO membership looms closer. But even sooner, Finland is yet another that signed a 10-year defence pact with Ukraine. Last week, National Guard were overwhelmed as rioters at El Paso pushed through to Border Agents. And while many arrested, a Texas Judge was forced to grant bonds as the District Attorney did not prepare for detention hearings required by law. If that sounded bad, the DHS chief is now being forced to answer how Terrorists initially identified were allowed to enter the U.S. And news comes out that U.S. President Biden is providing more funds to Illegal Aliens than his administration to U.S. Veterans. Cities in the U.S. are reeling from the influx, Tuburculosis cases showing up in Chicago Migrant Shelters, and Denver directing them to New York instead. Mexico 'appears' to be rounding up migrants, but this only before the 2024 election that migrants wish for another Biden win. But not alone with issues with Migrants, Canada's Prime Minister admits migrants are impacting wages. France had to clear out migrant camps before the Olympics. And a Syrian migrant was arrested for stabbinga 4-year old girl in Germany. The turmoil in Haiti continues as Canada prepares for intervention by sending troops to Jamaica, And as over 50,000 flee the island country, gangs loot the National Library, putting historical documents at risk. Tragedy struck Taiwan as a massive earthquake struck, killing at least 9 and injuring 800 others. While the world sent best wishes, China sent replies of thanks back, infuriating Taiwan. Despite courtroom issues, Judges rejecting requests to dismiss cases, District Attorneys trying to dismiss bonds paid in actual cash, Donald Trump continues fighting. And it turns out that the Georgia District Attorney was given an ultimatum or face felony charges herself. And bad news continues to grow for President Biden, supporters lamenting over his fundraising appearances, fellow Democrats calling Biden a threat to Democracy, and the Rock regretting he ever backed Joe. But now, those under medicare will have grievences themselves as Medicare Advantage is being slashed by Biden. Isis and Iranian worldwide terror terror plots including Notre Dame, the Cuban 'Sonic Attacks' during the Trump administration revealed to have Russian origins, Venezuelans burning Maduro and Putin effigies on Easter, President Milei to inspect secret base set up by China in Argentina. Police in Scotland overwhelmed by calls after Hate-Speech law went into effect, Wisconsin voters ban of Zuckerbucks and other private funding of elections, the Police Pants-less protest over uniform shortages in Germany, and over 40 more articles hit this week's news.

The roadway to Electric Vehicles hit a major roadblock according to this week's News of the Cyber World. China slowed down production due to lack of demand, Amazon fires 600 due to its EV failures, and Ford suffered major losses due to poor sales. Despite this and lack of both charging stations and viability, U.S. President Biden made new mandates targeting all major supply line trucks and bussing services. Artificial Intelligence too reigns in the cyber as New York's new AI chatbot was found giving potentially illegal advice, all while Microsoft, Meta and Twitter/X take action against AI powered disinformation and malicious bots and malware. Amazon's AI shopping revealed to be 1000 workers from India, Google planning to make their AI search system a paid feature, Facebook sued for giving member content Netflix, Columbia blasting TikTok for allowing Terror Group recruitment, and much more hit this week's cybernews.

This week, the U.S. and U.Kl govermnents filed both criminal charges and sanctions against Chinese Hackers sponsored by China itself. Half a dozen defendents, all Chinese Nationals, are also employed by China's Ministry of State Security and part of the APT31 or Zirconium hacking group that has been active since 2010. And even the New York Times noted that the stance by the U.S. and U.K was more unified and resouding when they compared it to Obama's response for the the 2015 government data breach.

This week, more Writing Snippets courtesy of Remi-chan appeared, and again related to her gaming universe. A new power has arisen and endured the trials of torment and pain before laying claim upon what she gained. But after examination of her new self, darkness and slaghter became not only justified, but a fitting fate for any chanced upon.

Filmography
Some six years ago ago, a cinematic trailer was blocked by Youtube due for a music complaints violation. But now that regulations have changed, you may now find within Remi-chan's Cinematic Theatre one of her teasers for Perseverence: Full Clearance.

Well, that's it for this week.

Character's Dash Animation

by Kyonides

Introduction

This is pretty much a plug & play script that will allow you to change the dash animation of the whole party. You must have an extra character spritesheet and name it something like "original_sheet1_dash.png", being "original_sheet1" the actual filename of the original actor spriteset. Then the script will switch from one to another in no time depending on the Dash button and any arrow key or its equivalent.

The Script

Code:
# * Character's Dash Animation * #
#  Scripter : Kyonides Arkanthes
#  2024-04-06

# You will need some extra character spritesheets to make it work.
# Their filenames should include the _dash suffix or they will be ignored.
# It will crash if you never move them in the Graphics/Characters directory.

Joining our community this week is Tahnryu. While not wholly unfamiliar with the RPG game development community, he admits he is one who takes his time, and is currently learning to do pixelart. Greeted by DerVVulfman who told him never to quit, and Remi-chan who looks forward to see his progress.

After gaining a fresh copy of RPGMaker XP, Schezoroark decided to join our collective. Completely new to scripts, Schezoroark came by as it turns out that our forum is a storehouse for RPGMaker XP scripts. But not without talent, Schezoroark is an artist who deals with character portraits. And greeted was Schezoroark by both DerVVulfman who noted that scripts were mere tools and not the end, and Remi-chan who felt inspired at seeing a new artist enter the forum.

Tech Talk
For those who are paying attention to the CryptoCurrency scene, the sentencing of FTX scammer Sam Bankman-Fried to prison certainly hit the News of the Cyber World this week. China is furiously working to keep TikTok running under their control in the U.S., creating a youth council portal despite its dangerous participation challenges, and paying millions in TV advertisements in an attempt to sway public opinion. TikTok isn't the only one in danger, the EU launching antitrust investigations into Apple, Google and Meta (formerly known as Facebook). Meanwhile, warnings abound as Google's new AI search system is redirecting traffic to malware sites instead of away. And despite the apparent victory both the Actors and Writers guild in Hollywood, there is yet another major push to use AI in film and TV production; a push now that could eliminate those in the editing and arts departments. Dangerous chemical leaks from solar farms in Texas, self reliant robots and self-driving cars, and more hit the CyberNews this week.

After revelations by the US and UK disclosed attacks by hacker group APT40, New Zealand revealed that those same Chinese Hackers breached two computer systems used by their Parlament in 2021. While nothing of a sensitive nature was accessed, the government summoned Chinese Ambassador Wang Xiaolong to lodge a formal complaint, stopping short harsh sanctions against Bejing.

2024 has been a good year for science fiction enthusiasts wishing to score their game, for Eric Matyas continues to Share His Original Music. As in weeks past, he composed another work that evoked the surreal with "Ancient Alien Worlds" which can be found within his Sci-Fi pages. But besides his public releases, he is available for custom work if desired.

Well, that's it for this week.

by Kyonides

This scriptlet allows you to change the way the help window works while selecting an enemy. Even if you've just selected the attack option, it will be displayed on screen and hide at the right time.

(February 18 to February 24, 2024)

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette! Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Official Area
Announcements and Updates
Late last Sunday, there was some Site Downtime while the Server was Updated. As Kirito stated, some features needed to be returned. But it was the very next day that DerVVulfman announced the features restored.

General Chat
For those who remember RPG gaming for years, it was sad to find that Jim Ward,Dungeons & Dragons designer, died at age 72. He began his career in the mid 70s with Dungeons and Dragons. And for his efforts, he was inducted into the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts & Design Hall of Fame in 1989.

The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas within that Gaza Strip still appears in the News of the World as Netanyahu vows to continue into Rafah after eliminating senior Hamas officials, even without U.S. support. But where is that support when some U.S. Democrats wish to fund the UNRWA helping Hamas, President Biden hires a Hamas-linked Contractor for a Gaza Pier project, and even Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Fetterman calls out Biden ofer lying to America while wanting to sit in with Republicans over the war. Russia finally declared that the invaion into Ukraine was an act of war. During this, Russia continues to launch attacks, even through Poland (and thus NATO) air space while Ukraine sinks two more Russian Vessels in the Black Sea. Meanwhile, China's stance seems to side with Russia as they attempt to push Ukraine into removing sanctions against their Russian business partners. And of China and Russia, both are pursuing relations with the Houthis for Red Sea access while China seeks a relationship with the leader of Hamas itself. Back in the U.S., the Impeachment hearing heats up as Biden Business Associate Devon Archer Refuses to Attend while former associate Tony Bobulinski testified that Hunter Biden committed perjury during the transcript interview. With that and the revelations of the CIA blocking Federal investigations connected to the Biden family, President Biden had just been invited to personally deliver testimony over the family business. And things look grim in Haiti as civil war breaks out between Barbecue's militia and the remmants of the police. While the State department attempts to get Americans out of the turmoil, U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) says it is ready to send troops if Haiti requested. Now a private citizen, Former President Obama's secret meeting to UK's Downing Street, the heaquarters of the Prime Minister (despite it a violation of US law), an Appeals court putting Texas Immigration law on hold after the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling, the Tyson Food boycot over firing workers to fill with migrants, the Isis-K terrorist attack at a Moskow theater, Princess Kate Middleton's Cancer diagnosis and treatment, and oh, so much more hit this week's news.

Tech Talk
Silicon Valley's historic loss of jobs hit this week's News of the Cyber World, a loss of 50,000 in 2024 alone. And not since the dot-com collapse of 2001 had such an impact. And it does not look good for Apple as the DOJ's anti-trust case raises five key points over their anti-competition practices. This are getting worse for U.S.'s President Biden as it was revealed that his Security Council has been working with a U.K. non-profit foundation to censor political opponents and free speech. And of his political opponents, it appears that former President Trump may gain up towards $3.5 Billion over a Truth Social merger. Drones delivering Wendy's hamburgers, Tennessee's new law protecting musicians and artists against AI, the Italian Prime Minister's AI- generated deepfake porn, and more hit this week's news.

Development Discussion
If you wondered just What's up among fellow RMers, Remi-chan now has a new voice actress under her belt for Fantasia, the voice of the evil Xaela. Enjoy the audition which depicts the Eldrich Mortician at her most sadistic.

Scripts Database
This week, Melana discovered there was an error with Copy Events XP whereby it would not copy an event if Map Id and event ID were large in value. DerVVulfman discovered the bug within the code, it being only the event ID in question and fixed the issue. A second issue remained, but it was more about syntax compatability with MKXP or kyonides' HiddenChest engine, but that was later fixed.

The same week, kyonides released KEventual for RPGMaker XP which boasts it can both duplicate and erase events with his own collection of script calls.

If curious how many steps it takes before one faces a random encounter, kyonides put forth the KSteps2Doom. For the Ruby-Script editions of RPGMaker, it features a simple hud to inform the players before such an encounter will occur.

If you wished something to occur when your hero or heroine finally reached a high enough level, then you may wish to consider Level Up Common by kyonides. It allows game developers using RPGMaker XP, VX or VXAce to tie one or more common events to any hero. So by any specified actor leveling up, a common event may be triggered.

For users with RPGMaker VXAce, the Select Key Item ACE system renders whether the player has a requisite key item for their mission or not.

An error appeared within the RPGMaker VXAce edition of Falkoner, but it didn't take long before kyonides swooped down to rip it to shreds.

Resources Database
This week, kyonides discovered that an artist in the RPGMaker community had passed away. However, he found that the artist's work may still be found with thanks to the Internet Archive. Seeing that, he uploaded a link to whitecat's Icons which are available in both RPGMaker XP and VX formats of many different types of items, be they food, arms and armor, keys, and so much more,.

Music and Audio
Looking for something humorous for your game? If so, you may wish to thank Eric Matyas for all the Original Music and Sound Effects that he has been working up. For something strange by the sea-side, he composed "THE PLASTERED PELICANS POLKA" for those occasions where you find drunk water fowl. And if the era of the 80s with smart-alec characters abound, then you may find "PIXELTOWN R&B" to fit the hyper-active and light-hearted mood.

Art and Design
To peek into Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing, one may see a vision white through a brilliance red. Who is she? What is she. The only thing we know is that Remi-chan created her with her 146th speed draw video.

Literature Section
For those who leaf throught the pages of Remi-chan's Writing Snippets, you may discover what event had possibly created one of the most evil creatures within Remi-chan's universe.

Filmography
It was a month ago when a song broke out within Remi-chan's Cinematic Theatre. But now with a new microphone, Remi-chan decided to re-record "Be There For Me", a ballad of love between two long lasting characters in her game universe.

Well, that's it for this week.
