Farewell
#1
With Rpgmaker.net and even RPGmakerWebs newer iteration now having firm stances against generative A.I. and this one still being in the wagon drawn along by horses, I'm afraid I can no longer pretend I want to be here. Apparentrly asking for the most basic of security from A.I. thieves beyond a token disclosure askance is asking too much, so I won't ask anymore.

I've already purged the content from all of my threads in the creativity section. I doubt there's a risk of scrapers but I'm not going to take risks I don't need to, purging them wasn't as timely as I was concerned it would be.

I asked many times for some harsher or more stone-set principles on A.I. generated assets, but nothing has been done, and alongside some other events is the final straw.

Lest you worry, beyond this post, I won't be making any more posts here. Activity would likely be the result, and at this point I'm convinced it would be best to let this place rot.

I feel surprisingly calm about this departure, and part of me felt for a while now that it was... inevitable. It's not like this is the first forum or place I've left in a manner unlike this one. I'm pretty used to the song and dance. I've truthfully been preparing for the eventuality of it for months now.

All I really feel is more just, disappointment. In the early 2010's a scare occurred as a result of iEntry making very shady terms of service regarding intellectual property of the people on the forusm it hosted. DerVVulfman was among the many who understandably protested such a thing.

Yet now here he is doing the same thing he protested against by refusing to do the bare minimum to protect the intellectual property of artists. For bizarre excuses like fear of a witchhunt of all things, which is just ridiculous.

I asked, I petitioned and then I demanded. Nothing has worked, so the next logical option is to leave and take my content with me.

This place is not safe for artists, it never truly has been, I just hoped that when there was a threat posed to the people who make this place active, that the admins would make a stand.

And so, I am just disappointed. But also relieved in a way to wash my hands of this place. if A.I. andies take it over, I won't be here to lament the loss. I do appreciate that this place was here for me in 2021 and onwards when I was lost and confused about my place in the space, and didn't have a large array of places to go for a forum experience.

But that was before A.I. had become much of anything, and before I'd seen how little my voice or anyone's voice on things like this really mattered.

I've outgrown this place, so if it wants to stay in a cocoon of pastime mediocrity, then let it be so. At this point, I won't even miss it. That which I condemn tends to rot after I leave.

I don't wish any ill on any of the members here, nor the admins. DerVVulfman is just stubborn, and as someone guilty of similar, it's not my place to judge him on that. I'm leaving in the most peaceful way I generally do.

I've pretty much nothing to lose leaving this place, I'd like to say it will lose nothing by having me leave, but I'm not so confident on that assertion, eitherway-- its not my problem anymore.

I've tolerated this ignomity long enough, and while I am calm as I type this prose, my patience for the regressive stasis has hit zero. That which refuses to adapt and insists on remaining stagnant can do so in its own scent-marked territory, but I don't see it necessary to live in a nest of troggs when I don't need to. I'll move on as I have many times before.

Farewell.
