RE: Game Idea Thread - KasperKalamity - 07-19-2012

i want to make a game where you play as old people who race around their nursing home in wheelchairs and rascal scooters.

RE: Game Idea Thread - millarso - 07-19-2012

I would be highly interested in seeing how that would turn out.

RE: Game Idea Thread - KasperKalamity - 07-19-2012

it would handle similar to the lickitung sushi go round in pokemon stadium. i would make it so that the racing is very low speed, but can still be very exciting.

RE: Game Idea Thread - Kain Nobel - 07-30-2012

I would like to see somebody make a visual novel/survival game where the protagonist really hates himself for some reason, yet he goes through the process of uploading his mind to a computer to see what it would do without him. (You see where I'm going with this yet...?)

Anyways, the mind uploading goes simple enough, his C-mind is confined to a simulation of the real world that is set up based on memories. Things go haywire when his C-mind becomes self-aware of the situation and decides to turn against his physical being. Escaping onto the world wide web, his mind tortures him by spreading rumors that make people want to kill him and feds want to lock him up. The C-mind also spreads into his remotely-accessed electronics such as his home security system, his car, etc...

One scene in the game would be the C-mind locks the guy in his garage with the intent to kill him with car exhaust fumes, the player would have to find different means to exit the garage. (Don't sit in the car and try to control it, its helpless...)

Now that I think about it, it would probably work out better as a movie, nevertheless it would be interesting to see how a game (or book) of this type would turn out. I don't want to develop it but if anybody else was to steal this idea, I would be more than happy :D

Instead of the other projects I yapped about before, I found some guy who wants to work on a project about space pirates. Imagine the little discussed Disney movie Treasure Planet. I've always had a certain affinity for pirates and the space aspect lets me expand the storyline and environment so we'll see how that works out.

I want to see a game in which you control a stereotypical Squeenix-esque villain (you know; the whole "I want to destroy the world and rule it as a god even thought that makes absolutely no sense") who starts off succeeding in their goal: but then realises that having ultimate power with nobody left alive to lord it over is, quite simply, the most pointless thing in the entire world... So, they're forced to recreate the world in order to establish dominance over it.

The game would have kind of a SimCity-esque vibe to it; in which you have to remake all of existence and basically design your world. You can blow it all up and start again from scratch whenever you like but the only way to "win" is to get to the end and realise that, now that you've gone through the effort of rebuilding creation that you actually rather like it and thus dedicate yourself to protecting everything you've made as the world's new god from anyone else who would make the same mistakes that you did.

Actually in FF6 the villain does succeed :)
Your plot reminded me of Megamind a bit though with gods then.
Either way I'd love to play this game ^^

RE: Game Idea Thread - Samven - 07-30-2012

Whether or not a villain succeeds wasn't my complaint. I just dislike this particular plot thread in games. Destroying the world benefits nobody, gains the person who does it nothing and there's just no way you can possibly justify it. Unless you need to make a new hyperspace bypass.

That's why I think it's time somebody examined it in detail and showed it up and looked at it with a more critical pair of eyes.

RE: Game Idea Thread - JayRay - 07-30-2012

I LOVE this game idea... so much can come from it... clashes with allies turned enemies, trust issues with new allies, I mean you DID just blow up their world... not to mention some serious morality play...

RE: Game Idea Thread - millarso - 07-31-2012

How about a game where you play as Godzilla, destroy Tokyo, and then, after experiencing some giant monster moral dilemma that is never really explained, you turn around and defend it from that filthy, stinking Mothra. That very loosely fits your concept. You could even have him aid in the reconstruction of Tokyo's infrastructure if you still wanted the rebuilding aspect.
