(January 16 to January 22, 2023)

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette! Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Official Area
Occasions
Days come and days go, but birthdays are that special time where we can celebrate the life of our friends and relatives. Of those that came and went, we had the opportunity to celebrate the birthdays of Helladen and Temper07. And after that, Insomniactypewriter had a birthday to celebrate. Later on, we got to celebrate the birthdays of goxgaa, MrFunny and jkingjamesj. And then zeak6464 had a day to munch on some cake. But we were only halfway through this week when sinobi celebrated his birthday. And this Sunday, we had a birthday celebration as CherryDT enjoyed his special day.

General Chat
Thoughts of audio compression and the Xiph's Ogg format was What's on the mind of kyonides, quoting from its creator that the Ogg format now supports tracks other than Vorbis. Of the information provided, Kain Nobel was impressed, and he has been a fan of Ogg for some time thanks to its seamless looping capacity.

For those who wanted to ask their friends "What are YouTubing?", much of what was viewed this week was game related. Kain Nobel found a one-hour playthrough, DerVVulfman encountered a parody, and JayRay a features and betatesting showcase. And if in a musical mood, twenty minutes of a 70s rock concert was uncovered by Kain Nobel.

For the U.S. the discovery of classified documents found at President Biden't Delaware home has been News of the World for over a week, with Republican Mitch McConnell calling on the DOJ for equal treatment. But near the end of this week, after the White House press secretary said all documents were recovered, another stash was again found. Businesses have been hit hard the past year, with Hollywood losing half a Trillion in their market value, and Microsoft felt such a crunch that they're laying off 10,000 jobs. An election integrity watchdog found that nearly 11 million mid-term ballots had apparently vanished during California's midterm election cycle. Banks in lawsuits over dodging Iranian Sanctions, Russian Spy ships, pollsters voting against a singular world economic platform, and much more was in this week's news.

Forum Games & Nonsense
A culinary query was posed tis week by JayRay under the subject of Bread? Don't Mind if I do!! In it, he crafted a poll if one preferred the breadsticks, rolls or chips from one of five restaurants. However, as Remi-chan pointed out, some areas may not have many or any of the restaurant chains he supplied. But she pointed out, some dining fare could be worse.

Games Development
Development Discussion
For one curious and wished to know What's Up among their fellow RMers?, Remi-chan has been revising the HUD system in her game, and correcting errors that DerVVulfman has been finding. After that, she decided to deliver a portion of a charactershot for one of her latest characters, a female form with demon tail and dark green nails.

When first presented within the Maps and screenshots thread, KasperKalamity's townscape was sparcely populated. But it has built up as noted by SteelBeast6Beets. And indeed, one can see a building under construction with half-finished walls and support beams ready for laborers. Steel Beast brought up shots of a town visited early on in his game, and JayRay presented the parallax maps in his work entitled "Epoch of Ravens". Later, Remi-chan showcased a screenshots from her game. But later posted a pair of videos on realizing they worked better than still imagery when colors and dark contasts are concerned.

It may have been a while since it was last frequented, Jayray decided to revive Mechanical Pen's topic of Pretty Maps; Bad Design with his thought about clutter in maps that may obstruct the player, typically pointing out the bad as player freedom is key. Following up his remarks, KasperKalamity added that moving events coupled with bad map design could entrap the hapless player.

Complete Projects
Thanks to Steel Beast 6Beets keeping it archived, Kain Nobel now restored the original edition of Belly of the Beast. Along with that, a complete playthrough is available in the main post. And there seems to be thoughts about bringing a second chapter to the game.

Tutorials
JayRay found another tutorial for RPG Developer Bakin, one by Jagonz named Material Albedo. Presented as a youtube video, it shows how one can change the color of certain pieces of an event set by way of scripting with C++ code.

Material Development
Tools
As he no longer had access to his old account, kyonides created and added the HiddenChest RGSS Player Executable system to a new GitHub repository. Later, he focused upon replacing several popup windows.

Scripts Database
If you want some form of popup to show when something has been found, the KItemAlert script might be what you need. A later update included displaying the amount of gold discovered, and change the placement of the icon graphics.

For those who want more variety with the skills they have, KScopeStates by kyonides allows you to make a state that turns single-target skills into those that encompass multiple targets.

Creativity Section
Art and Design
This week, you may easily frolic within Remi-chan's Neato Arty thread thing! and spend time with some lively and friendly barnyard characters. Not her typical renders, these were more of a simple fare she illustrated within MSPaint, and using them in her game as placeholders.

Literature Section
The first chapter in another of kyonides's tales, Federal Bureau of Instigation, puts the fictional character Trickster as a government agent who would work to fix the problems of the nation. However, he is mocked both by his co-workers, and dismissed by his boss who has another assignment for him... the apprehension of Cheesie James.

Well, that's it for this week.
