(September 6 to September 12, 2021)

Welcome dear readers to the latest issue of the Weekly Gazette! Here in the Gazette, we give you the news in brief of what occurred in the past week as well as provide any news happening in Save-Point itself

Official Area
Announcements and Updates

Early this week, the Board was hacked, and Kirito advised everyone to change their passwords. There's evidence that they dumped (or copied) the entire forum content, We're aware of the plugin that was vulnerable, but now all plugins have been removed and the forum appears barren of effects for and upcoming transfer to a newer forum software. Most of the images were restored, and DerVVulfman restored the spoiler system and added the Discord chat button to the forum menu. Along with that, DerVVulfman used mass mailing to contact all members to advise them of the breach. Current members like Holder, DoubleX, XP Kobold and Steel Beast 6Beets received the notifications, and members from the past like schM0ggi, MechanicalPen, Kahn01 and Landarma returned. As odd as it may sound, someone joined the discord who inferred he was the hacker, only for Remi-chan to toy with the poor miscreant, the mouse to the cat.

Feedback and Suggestions

According to lestat3179 who claims to be a former hacker who despises hackers, he received alerts from Google and Experian fom our forum hack. But while MetalRenard noted that the hack lasted but a couple hours, Kirito relayed that the passwords used a method that prevents decryption known as hashing. Such a method is extremely secure. Steel Beast 6Beets felt he dodged a massive bullet and Remi-chan had her own opinion on lestat3179's judgment of our password system.

This week, Tei found a reason to abandon his lurker status and become a full-fledged member. Though that could have been under better circumstances as members like DerVVulfman and MetalRenard relayed. Still, he was appreciative of the fast response on the forum repair and mass eMailings, and the extensive archive when other RPGMaker sites have vanished.

Despite our recent hack, we get to celebrate glad tidings weekly. And among those are the birthdays of our members, such as one for Gogvonmagog. And if you thought that the week was only to contain a few celebration, you were wrong as ElliotWyvern also had a birthday to celebrate. But that was only the start of the birthday celebrations this week as Bravo2Kilo and undaunted both shared the same birthday, as did LiTTleDRAgo and phantasie followed by mass celebrations for Chukkaque, MidareZakura, aceramd, ChickenFetus, Yishen and Luxintra the very next day. After that, superfanqui1979 and DuskCrow were able to share some birthday cake together. And this Sunday, we had a birthday celebration as Siletrea was able to engage in some birthday cake eating.

General Chat

People's expectations and mindset was What's on the mind of some members this week. Taylor hadn't been in the forum for years, and on seeing conservative news sites in use in the News of the World board, she may likely not return. KDC relayed what he felt was a minor mental breakdown while laying a game. And DerVVulfman relayed that a co-worker of his had Covid while the werewolf himself now suffers from the symptoms. However, DerVVulfman did report he finally got a check from AT&T and confirmation the account is finally closed.

How fast can a hyper-active mammal be? If you were to ask KDC the question of What are YouTubing?, you'd find out for yourself as one appears to be set on destroying a chemical factory and computer core.

The Covid virus is still in the News of the World, first with United Airlines effectively dropping staff claiming Religious Exemptions from the vaccine, and new documentation proving that Dr. Anthony Fauci lied when he said the US NIH (National Institute of Health) never funded Gain-of-Function research in Wuhan. Meanwhile, a woman in a gorilla mask was caught on video throwing eggs at a candidate running against Gavin Newsome in the Recall Election.

Tech Talk

Fines and possible data breaches were the News of the Cyber World this week, beginning with WhatsApp slapped with a $267 million fine by Ireland's Data Protection Commission for not fully disclosing how it would use its client's data. The encrypted eMail service known as ProtonMail was revealed that it had disclosed IP addresses under a Swiss Court order, refuting their stance that they don't collect user information. And a vulnerability was detected within Atlassian Confluence software that could permit the injection of arbitrary code into a server or data center.

Forum Games & Nonsense

A simple little tale by Felgraf entered the forum this week, entitled ELDERLY WIZARD. Another humorous pen-n-paper retelling, MetalRenard suggests that DerVVulfman keeps them coming.

Games Development
Complete Projects

If you wondered What's up with a fellow RMer named Remi-chan, she appeared to reveal a malevolent force and its attentions towards a mild-mannered Kitsune. Not all is as it appears.

Habs11, the creator of The Spirit of Darkness, returned to answer some questions posed by Kingray100, including the location of Antilles, the difficulty of enemies, and more.

Material Development
Scripts Database

How much gold can a party carry? With Extra Gold XP & ACE by kyonides, you can set or change that limit in-game rather than going with the system default.

Creativity Section
Music and Audio

This week, the hack did not dissuade Eric Matyas from Sharing his Original Music this week, posting two more cyber-punk styled pieces. The music gave DerVVulfman a chuckle as he could envision their use in light-hearted, side-scrolling platformers.

Well, that's it for this week.
