B&F 1 - The dark corridor
#1
Rainbow
Hello everyone! Does someone remember when I came to this forum one day to ask a question, had my solution elsewhere, and then never posted again? XD I admit I'm not very good at forums nowadays. However, I hope you don't mind me posting about my game, now that's finished!

B&F will be a series of 4 games, and I've just finished chapter 1! I consider it a finished game in the sense that I won't add anything else to it other than bug fixes, and the little story it has is self-contained (it doesn't end in a cliffhanger or anything). But, there will be more, and the overarching story won't be complete until I finish chapter 4.

B&F 1 - The dark corridor

Fendi is a young elf who can't stand injustice and feels a strong inclination towards getting into trouble. In one of these times, he convinces his friend Bila, a half-elf who is very talented in spell writing, to help him sneak into a building. For justice reasons, of course.

B&F is a series of turn based RPGs set in a modern world inhabited by elves and humans. Elves can use magic, but humans can't, and this eventually created an inequality that Fendi isn't quite a fan of.

Join Fendi and his friends in their adventures, which will contain magic, a lot of dialogues, and violence against evil people. Or against robots, who have no guilt, but they're not good either.

This first chapter has no difficulty, it's impossible to lose the battles and there is no bad ending. So what to expect from it? Since battles are trivial, the game is basically about interacting with your surroundings and reading a lot of dialogues. I hope you enjoy that! It's an introduction to both my characters and the lore of their world. I do want to make some actual RPG battles in next chapters! They won't be especially hard or anything, but you'll be able to lose, at least :9

Warning: this game contains non-ignorable quantities of romance and bisexuals. And politics.

Download for free on itch.io
And see slightly more info (and credits) in its homepage
It is, and will always be, a free game. But if you liked it very much and want to support a broke artist (me!) you can donate on Ko-Fi :)

Oh now, don't you threaten me with a good time!

Man this brings me back! I remember seeing you working on these sprites on Morso's RPGmaker Pride server, I forgor it's name. I left over a year ago. :0

Once I get done with my art and junk for this week I'll see if I can't get a chance to play this.

Heheheh!

Funny thing: I kept this "warning" because I find it very funny (it's on itch and on my website), but it was actually motivated by the official RPG Maker forums requiring that your game "has to have a warning if it is political". Which I think is quite silly, but I shall double down on that for funsies :9

If you play it and don't find it too political, then give me time, I want to add more actual political things later XD. But who knows... ~some people~ think LGBT and non-white characters are political by themselves, and that is already in chapter 1, so fair enough (?).

Ugh, that is SO like them. Sanitized to the point it could be seen as satire, only they aren't that self-aware. Hilariously they house and promote some dipstick who uses A.I. and is on record for saying some really stupid things. But he makes them a bit of money so lmao they gotta milk that cashcow until it dries up.

What an actual joke of a community, really.

One of my favorite things to do is poke fun at political takes from the POV of those looking in from the outside.

Don't weep for the stupid, you'll be crying all day.

That's just people being afraid of anything outside of the sphere of what they categorize as normal. Make the game you wanna make. Game development just like all artforms, is a means of creative expression. The power of the pagemaster is yours.

Don't worry about that! In every sense, this project is me being as free as possible XD. I am doing things that I want to include, thematically, and also regarding to pacing or anything else "other games don't have". I do what I think is cool and try to not stop myself just to please others :9 It being a free project makes me not worry about anything, I don't need to sell!

Really, I just find it funny that some people consider those things offensive or a "political statement". When I add diversity of physical features and make LGBT characters, that's again because I want to. No one forcing me, I just find it neat >:D On the same level as adding holograms for traffic lights, or blue and purple plants, or red pandas. Oh, and all elves have two-colored hair, because I find that very cool x)

I'm yapping a lot, but in any case, I'm thankful you for the encouragement, even if I already had that mindset, hehe.

I was fairly sure you were already on that, what I said was more an acknowledgement of that what you were doing here was a good thing rather than meant to be any sort of advice. My prior meetings with you only helped assure me you weren't the kind of person to let others tell you what your game can and can't have, haha!

Pop off, queen! Or was it king? Eitherway!

See you include absurdities and elves to a game you have me like 50% on board just with that. It's probably not much of a secret that anime elves are one of the things I really enjoy drawing. It's harder to find OC's of mine that have human ears rather than elven ears, lmao.

Yeah, my point wasn't to teach you the mindset as it was pretty clear you already had it, but to agree that it was a good mindset to have and bolster you for it.

I was gonna play last night but I got tired and really wanna experience this game when I'm not falling asleep in my chair, so I'll probs play it sometime today.
