A minor report on progress:
Whew! I had SOME TERRIBLE TIME getting this to work!!

Happy humpday everyone! :D

I've been specifically working on a cutscene picture the last couple of days, and it was a doozy! I had a couple unsuccessful drafts, but ended up picking up this specific version again to carve out some kind of finished product:

I'm still not entirely happy with it, I tend to be obsessive over these things, so I'll probably end up editing it again!
At least it's something serviceable :)

I created some technical problems along the way for myself, getting too far into drawing it before remembering I planned on adjusting the aspect ratio to fit the game... Oh well! I had to make a quick fix with the zoom-in panel on the side there. It looks okay though, so, sort of a happy little accident.
In addition to that, I somehow didn't realize that I managed to make the image double sized. (I would normally create an image of 416x288 and double it up to 832x576 to fit my game window, so some details don't get lost in translation, and things look clearer, but this one I accidentally did the full 832 while drawing.)

So, aside from all that, I suppose it worked out pretty good! It's only my 4th or 5th pixel art illustration of this nature overall. (I drew some for my previous game project.) So, I'm still figuring out some things haha.

(I used myself for reference in those past ones :D Whereas for this current one, I just base it off of a sketch. This game is also going to have a bit of a more cartoony style to fit with the portraits I've made.)

Yesterday, I found a pretty green bottle of nail polish in a trash can that perfectly matches my game's color scheme, I take it as a sign that I'm on the right path Suave

I feel bad about not posting here frequently. I've never been the type to be able to manage social media accounts, or any web account regularly. But everyone here has been immensely helpful to me in learning and growing with my game projects, and I greatly appreciate it, and don't take it for granted, just want everyone to know that.

I think we all can get down about the things we can't do in a day, a week, or even a year. Be it normal tasks that seem simple, or artistic projects. But sometimes we all have to take a moment to be fair and forgiving to ourselves for our shortcomings. I hope everyone can take a moment to be kind to themselves, and internalize a positive message today, instead of all the negative ones we so easily fall to. <3

And that's awesome about your Aquariuismness, R.  Laughing + Tongue sticking out I never much paid attention to astrology, but for a while became mildly obsessed with checking multiple horoscopes daily to try and divine some wisdom about my future.

(went too far and got distracted as always.) Might post those bits too, but I combined several tilesets, so piecing out the unique edits would be a bit of a chore.

I wasn't entirely pleased with how the background cityscape came out for the previous cutscene picture (the a few posts up). I used several GIMP edge filters to give the illusion of outlines and such, and thought it would just look cool and stylized, but I worry about it looking sloppy. So I was going to try a more detailed approach on another cutscene image:

Just a sketch at the moment.

Doing full-screen cutscene images is more challenging than I expected before I started doing them! Definitely adds to your workload on a project.
