The Hebdo thing makes me so frustrated because it picks away at the scabs I have about the way internet social justice works. Fuck you so much Tumblr, fuck you for destroying several friendships and turning them all into militant activists. Now I'm totally for equal rights and social justice and all, but SJWs are not. They only care about their own egos, sitting back and seeing all the metadata count up and think they're doing the world a favour by spreading misery.

As for this current event, my main Twitter comes off as this indirect shouting match between people I follow and it makes me super uncomfortable. One side is unsympatheticly calling the cartoons racist, the other is asking people consider the context. This is the right thing to do. As the following links show, they state that the cultural context is important.

"[France lacks] the overwhelmingly moralizing, missionary tone that suffocates [US] political debate just when it starts to get interesting." This is what I keep thinking when it comes to the unsympathetic haughtiness of internet justice. Especially when it's so US-centric. It's about ignoring the context and taking information at face-value, taking the snapshot that you see and treating it as the entirety. It's about appearing above your so-called opponents than actually making your opponents your allies. I use the word "ally" with caution here. Essentially, SJWs use the word ally to absolve their guilt. If they say things like "kill all cishet men", they use the label of ally to feel less guilty about also wishing death about their friends.

I'm not going to call it racist, or even on the same level as the threats given by racist types or mysognists that will put you in physical danger, but it sure as hell isn't going to encourage people outside the circlejerk of SJWs to join them.

I have a little part of my brain strawmanning, comparing me to GG/misogynists/etc for hiding away to voice alternative opinion. (Something I noted on an alternate Twitter account.) It sure says something about the current nature of internet safe spaces, where I feel like I have to hide away from my friends. I feel like I'm back at school. I started using the internet heavily because I didn't have to worry about physical limits or the other issues I had at school, and now I'm being made to self-censor or fear the mob to peer-pressure me into silence.

I am so, so tired of it.

Yeah They have the gotcha argument mentality- If they can get a 1up argument going that somehow they dont look like idiots.
Ive seen it before, but next only to veganism Ive rarely seen it take so much a hold on a group before.
Whenever censorship is preferred I reject it. silencing makes us all dumber and less understanding. If someones a nazi- I wanna hear it- I want their bigotry on display- alot of the time Critics can quash Idiots faster then the FCC ever could.

What's On My Mind 1-13-15

Okay, so I have found out some interesting information about some of the models and items that are in some of our hottest games! While these games are themselves copyrighted, most of these games like Tera, Skyrim, Oblivion, and more thrive on player-created content. Mods and variations of a lot of the equiment, architecture, and even character models are often available, and furthermore, actually SUPPORTED by the EULA of their own companies!

Here's where it gets interesting, at least for the free and non-commercial crowds. Now, from what I understand, if you retexture a non-proprietary object (like a wall from a unreal PK file.) and resubmit it for the use of the game, it's perfectly allowed, as long as it's not for a fee.

So, I began snooping around with the idea of course, of taking those same re-textured models, and changing the media type, from 3d models to 2d sprite sheets. While they look AWESOME, I really had to ponder the EULA, I mean... I'm pretty sure none of the EULAs for the hottests HD games had clauses in them about thaking their awesome 4096x4096 textured windmill, and converting it down to a 256x512 PNG for the explicit purposes of putting it in a 2d RPG, but I have to wonder...

Where do our rights allow us to do this? Would not a game like RMXP be a player-created content to the games we purchases and followed the EULA with? Or does this cross a line?

imagine thousands of beady eyed people in front of their own personal shrines that they built to immortalize their own egos, laser focused on the incongruities between their shrine, and anyone else's. welcome to the internet. sjw's want everyone to know how much of one they are, because in their minds it makes them a better person without any actual effort (kony2012) if they did it just for themselves, you'd never see/hear about it.

edit: i found an entertainment arts school near me that offers classes on all sorts of cool stuff like latex mask construction. it's operated by the winner of Face Off's 4th season. gf and i want to do one of the classes there, but they stole my idea that i just had for a mask in an episode they taped a few years ago. so now i need a new monster idea.

Your idea for a monster/their costume design is.... Big Eye? http://www.woodus.com/den/gallery/graphics/dq5ps2/monster/big_eye.png

I've been a bit depressed lately. Always seems to happen around this time of year. Too many bad days and the good ones are too few and far in between. Cry

How's everyone been doing?

I really want to make maps, and know how to do use, but... I really don't now how to make maps look nice.

I can picture the game starting with the brothers Harkadi and Hiqali leading their cattle (they are herders) back to their hometown Har-Ubiya, and meanwhile they are overlook a ridge seeing the Capital City of Uzer off in the distance. The city looks massive and sprawling and one could bear witness to a sea of glistening domes of turquoise inlaid with onyx. The walls painted a bright a red with the corners painted black. (Sadly, I wish I could get someone to draw me this "city in the distance" as a panorama...)

Then the brothers reach their farm and they are greeted by their childhood friend Yavi. After this they go to visit their sister Ntaswima on the other side of the town. The party talks about their day when military recruiters come to the town claiming that a war is coming and that all men must join the Alkad (soldiers/city guards).

So Harkadi, Hiqali, and Yavi (*I'd just like to say that all male names end in -i and all female names in -a) are drafted to join the Alkad and are sent to a Alkad training outpost near the city of Mazlil. There they learn that Vrkhazh is being dragged into war with the neighbouring empire Ngu-Qam [However, this is speculated by many to be caused by some of the the higher ups in the Triad of Magi (a continent-wide magocratic mega-empire bent on ruling the world spreading their influence, of which Vrkhazh is a part of.)] "overstepping their bounds" and initiating a conquest of more powerful empires].

They are trained there, two years pass and they are employed to take back a captured city on their north border. The recapture proves successful. Five more years pass and the war is still going on just as fiercely as it did 8 years ago. It is learned that the Harkadi, Hiqali and Yavi have been upgraded to Talum-Rrayya "Gates of the Origin", a special army created by the Triad of Magi for... special purposes. However, the Triad of Magi feel like they are losing this war because they are running out of soldiers and resources.

A notable member, Khumti-Zhah'ali, has expressed fears that the Veil between the Formed World and the Formless World is thinning and that there are powerful and evil forces from the Formless World trying to claw their way to the Formed World. He also claims that hese forces have the intention of eradicating all of humanity. The rest of the Triad take his concerns lightly, however they order him along with a group of Talum-Rrayya of his choosing to go and investigate the underground passages beneath abandoned City of the Crows, where the Veil is closest, and see if the Veil really is thinning. Harkadi, Hiqali and Yavi are among the chosen to assist Khumti-Zhah'ali in the investigation. They also learn that the Harkadi and Hiqali's sister is also among the party, having joined the Alkad 6 years prior.

That is all I have for now...

it's all furpiles and strange dildos until someone throws chlorine in the stairs.

@ahzoh: you need to make your map, and then make a photoshop file the exact pixel dimensions of your map. the map tiles are 32x32 pixels, so you need to multiply your tile dimensions by 32 to get your panorama dimesions. your panorama will show through as a cutout from your background. this is the frame of reference i had from photoshop:

and this is how it looks in game:

on my mind: as an adult, it's a lot of fun to pretend you're a teenager again and bang in your old bedroom when your parents aren't home.
