wouldnt it be neat if Bigfoot was the immortal spirit of the Earth?

RE: What's on your mind? - KasperKalamity - 04-18-2012

holy €*}%, my brain hurts:

ive been watching a lot of ancient aliens lately. they talk a lot about 'alien artifacts' that possibly point to extra terrestrials interceding in ancient human/earth's development. we also do this. there is a particular design that we have sent out on satellites that depict a human male and female, and a nine planet system with arrows pointing to earth. now what if all these artifacts succumbed to the ages? what would be the one last thing that could outlast the mayan temples, puma punku, and the nazca lines? Humans. A species. we adapt to our environment, think, learn, build, an most importantly, survive.

as a species, the one thing we have all had in common from the very first modern hominid to today has been our instinct of self preservation. i think that even if we can't figure out what these artifacts or places mean, and we can't figure out what they're trying to tell us, we can know what WE mean.

WE are the aliens. this primate hominid we know as humans, and every common ancestor could have been put here, and helped along by our ET progenitors so that one day we would find out exactly who we are, why we are on Earth, and how we can learn the fate of our creators.

a lot of what they talk about on the show has to do with how ancient humans depicted huge battles taking place in the heavens, and being visited by the Gods in flaming chariots that hold circles within circles. when we apply the ancient astronaut theory to these writings, we can make the insane leap of logic that Earth was the site if interstellar warfare. but was it over us? is the extra terrestrial species that created us being hunted? are we being hunted?

i've read a lot of tinfoil hat level crazy online about how 'Greys' are at war with 'Nordic' and 'Reptillian' aliens. but what does that have to do with us? were we possibly created by nordic aliens as a means of continuing the species? or could we have been put here in our most primitive form with the goal of evolving independantly of whatever environments and struggles made it necessary to make humans in the first place?

think about it: nothing else on this planet has a humanoid shape. fish look like other fish, elephants and giraffes and dogs all have the same quadripedal shape, an iguana and a gecko operate in more or less the same way. so why would the members of the primate order be so similar? why is our biology the way that it is? why does DNA work the way that it does?

RE: What's on your mind? - LagunaX1 - 04-18-2012

Er, DNA wise there's a pattern that fits across all species. Also all mammals have the exact same bone structure just with different shaped bones. Like the bats wings have the same bones that form our fingers and such.

To assume we were placed here by aliens you'd have to assume the aliens purposely made it look like we're related to all other animals on Earth. I suppose the argument there is they did it so we could blend in lol

Also the main reason there's no other species of human is, well there was. We used to co exist with them. You know what happened to them? We killed them off or enslaved them lol We were the smartest of the Homo's so we out smarted all the rest pretty much.

But yeah, maybe they made us look like a byproduct of this planets evolution just so their enemies wouldn't kill us off or something lol But that seems a bit too much of leap to me just to try make us aliens. It's the same reasoning as saying the pattern in our DNA and such was placed by God to test our faith.

edit: Also documentaries based on aliens usually have a way with making bullshit sound plausible even though they offer no credible evidence. I'd watch again and be careful about that. Not being able to explain where something came from doesn't mean aliens did it, the same as it doesn't mean God did it. It just means we don't know.

im skeptical enough to call bullshit on bullshit that's obviously a mushroom trip... im saying it's a little strange that primates are the only ones with two arms, two legs, and hands. hands are the important thing, dolphins don't have hands, clams don't have hands.

one if the eps i watched included a geological survey of Nazca, and how it's the best place to get an idea of what minerals can be found on Earth. they also put forh the idea that ET's 'bred' us to be laborers for whatever they were doing on earth. all the stuff i've read agree that the Nordics are benevolent, Greys are a-holes, and reptilians are out to kill us all. it's all a bunch of really fringey ideas that are perfect to cherry pick for weird stuff to put in a game.

Bullshit on top of bullshit?

Bullshitception.

(Try looking up words which don't really have a translation in an other language, that can be tough. I hope you'll get what I'll try to say)

Today I finally got a reply from one ouf our vocational schools (tough I've read someone said the word vocational college suits better) where I applied in January in order to learn the next "job level" of my profession; kindergarten teacher. I am told that I am allowed to participate in the acceptance test which will take place in two weeks.
I am not told what I have to prepare for of course (tough I kinda hoped I'd get a hint about it) and thus I'll have to re-study two years worth of material and more. Wish me luck, I shall need it.

...
When I opened this thread I was actually going to talk about something entirely diffrent. Then I got the letter and it kinda changed what was on my mind. I don't even remember anymore what I wanted to say originally XD'

Ooh! Good luck yamina-chan~~ <3

I'm currently excited/nervous! Starting my new job as bar staff at a nearby hotel in just over an hour~~

Well there are A LOT of species of primate. And it just demonstrates that evolution is something that happens over time and keeps happening independent of other species. You can also pick out similar things in other speices and make the same claim that its odd. Like bats are the only animals with their type of wings, their wings aren't like a birds at all. Also why isn't it equally strange that dolphins and whales and such are the only group of mammals with fins? Just because it's common among fish, even though dolphins are more related to us than they are to fish? In that case what about the Koala Bear which has two legs, two arms, two hands and two opposable thumbs just like us even though they aren't primates? If anything it's strange there is another animal that isn't a primate that has them, not the other way round. But that's explained by convergent evolution anyway.

But yeah, the simple answer is that it's just a late addition in evolution, just like self awareness, dolphins fins and bats wings. Also the ability to recognize yourself in a mirror, which apart from the great apes very few animals have shown to be able to do. I think the consciousness/self awareness route is much more convincing then us having hands anyway for an alien theory. Anyway, I don't see it strange as evolution didn't all happen at once, so certain things would have had to have evolved later than others, and it's impossible for the majority of species to share a late evolution (and by late I just mean it was a recent genetic mutation). The opposable thumb is just one of those things that evolved more recently.
But yeah, I agree the alien angle can be interesting stuff to consider for games.

@Clockwork: You'll scare the customers away! lol

Guys, take this conversation to another thread. It doesn't belong here really. :)

RE: What's on your mind? - KasperKalamity - 04-19-2012

i think that thread is about wrapped up...

on my mind: ive had my license for 8 years now, and i cant figure out how i ever was able to sit comfortably in a passenger seat. my shoe size is 13, and i cant sit here without rolling my ankle :(
