"Episodic" vs. Full releases - Jophie - 11-01-2009

Typically with our larger games, we usually do episodic releases, but make sure the bugs are minimal through extensive testing (which is required for a game of the caliber we make...it's huge but detailed). That's non-RPGMaker related stuff though. With RPG Maker, I'd still shoot for episodic releases, such as chapters, for reasons that were mainly already stated such as more feedback to improve later chapters. To hurtle over the 'inconsistency' deal, typically a full game is planned in whole (or so I assume), so this isn't likely to happen on a large scale. Those who 'wing it' with chapters I assume don't design commercial games, as it would be a bit hectic keeping everything flowing smoothly from chapter to chapter unless you keep extensive notes on each.
