Occasions
This week, we say hello to davidenglander, newly introduced into RPGMaker XP and RPGMaker 2003 and whom is working on a fangame inspired by the Crime Thriller "Man on a Ledge" © 2012. DerVVulfman greeted him and inquired upon his talents. davidenglander relayed that he had made minigames with WarioWare DIY, but doesn't have talent in art or music. But the soundtrack from the film and found some tracks fit perfectly for boss battle and menu screens. He was surprised by how long Ruby scripting has existed while kyonides noted how old it actually is.
We got to celebrate a number of Birthdays this week, starting with Erechel's, ntzrmtthihu777's, SoftGuy's and MarchHare's. After that, RoseQuartz had a birthday celebration. And this was followed by the birthday of Taylor. We were also able to celebrate the joint birthdays of zyeard and Keeroh. And lastly, kreuzraven's birthday came and went.

General Chat
The discovery that GIMP has an outline text option wasWhat's on the Mind of kyonides this week, as a simple google search proves the feature exists.
If you ever wondered how a character could constantly consume potion after potion in an RPG game, you might want to ask DerVVulfman just "What are YouTubing?" It seems that those countless bottles may have an unexpected or disastrously hilarious effect. Meanwhile, Bounty Hunter Lani found a lawyer who took it upon himself to examine "Phoenix Wright" and felt that any case like that would be subject to mistrials and matters of ethics violations.

Games Development
Development Discussion
If you want to play catch up with your fellow game making members, a good way to find out What's Up in their RPG GameMaking endeavors. This week, DerVVulfman completely forgot how a feature in his Animated Battlers system worked, but quickly caught himself back up to speed while he worked on revising the system. Since then, he's been modernizing many of his Animated Battlers-related works and handled a visual glitch that went unnoticed in the system. Meanwhile, the work on KUnits by kyonides continues, and he posted a video to show his current level of progress. He fashioned his own custom form of Event Handling system, and added some transition effects. He mentions how code was made with Linux distros in mind, but also on adapting its use for Windows systems. And brings up how music isn't part of his distribution package though adding your own favorites shouldn't be too hard.
It has been a while since Bounty Hunter Lani came by to make a suggestion in the Common Sense Corner, but she did this week and made a suggestion for those adding quests into their game. She knows that fetch and extermination quests are commonplace, but adds that they are appearing too often and suggested other options such as quests that teaches the game's mechanics.

Upcoming Projects
As the Halloween season begins, ChickenFetus has begun work on several sprites for his Animal Survival Horror Game which he is making with Unity. His game, currently under the project title of Zerusohl's Creatures, currently has some RTP-modeled creatures, though his preference would be to move away and have graphics all their own. Variations of rats and mice are in the game, and new enemies such as freakish worm creatures and overgrown spiders are also being featured.
Tutorials
What was a discussion to avoid Making things the hard way became an argument between kyonides and DerVVulfman about adding code to prevent illegal data from causing software to crash or using a means to report crashes when they do happen. The argument that kyonides put forward was that such error-stop code would prevent the user from reporting errors to the coder. But DerVVulfman's argument was that the coder should use said practices to prevent errors from appearing and that it was up to the coder to ensure that the system had no flaw from the start. They both had vary different views on how one codes and appears reflected on how they have been taught.

The Gosu version of KUnits has been worked on by kyonides, with recent improvements to the transition system while amending several sections of his code.
Well, that's it for this week.
