Pence Refuses to Invoke the 25th Amendment

Vice President Mike Pence said that he refuses to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office, saying that it would set a “terrible precedent.”
In a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Pence said that he does not believe that invoking the 25th Amendment is in the best interest of the nation or consistent with the Constitution.

Now I seriously think Pelosi and Schumer are the only lunatics here.

World Leaders Denounce Big Tech Censorship of President Donald Trump

Political elites worldwide have criticized big tech companies for banning President Donald Trump from their social media platforms.
At present, the president has been banned from Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat, Reddit, and Instagram.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel called Twitter’s ban on Trump “problematic,” and said that freedom of opinion is an essential right of “elementary significance,” her spokesperson, Steffen Siebert, said on Jan 11.
Members of the French government agreed.
Clement Beaune, the junior minister for European Union affairs, said he was “shocked” a private company made this kind of decision.
French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire also condemned the move and said that tech giants were part of a digital oligarchy that was a threat to democracy.
Manfred Weber, the leader of the European People’s Party—a centre-right political party—echoed Beaune and called for Big Tech firms to be regulated.
Meanwhile, Norway’s left-wing Labor Party leader Jonas Gahr Støre said that Big Tech censorship threatens political freedom around the world.
The Australian government has also called the ban on Trump an act of “censorship.”
Mexican President Manuel López Obrador also echoed his global counterparts, with Reuters reporting that he said it was a bad sign when private companies try to censor opinion.
In Russia, the opposition leader, Alexey Navalny, who is an outspoken anti-corruption campaigner, said he believed the ban was an unacceptable form of censorship and was based not on a genuine need but rather Twitter’s political preferences.

President Donald Trump traveled to the southern U.S. border on Jan. 12 to tout the successful construction of 450 miles of border wall and a number of other immigration enforcement achievements from his administration.
The president delivered a brief speech in Alamo, Texas, amid a backdrop of construction equipment and a section of the border wall. The barrier is one of the most concrete landmarks of Trump’s legacy. The president spent years bargaining and battling with Democrats to secure funding for the project amid a surge in illegal crossings over the border with Mexico.

Iran Giving Al-Qaeda a ‘Second Wind,’ New Terrorist Base in Iran, Says Pompeo

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday that the al-Qaeda terrorist group has a new headquarters in Iran.
“Al-Qaeda has a new home base, it is the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Pompeo said in a speech at the National Press Club. “As a result, bin Laden’s wicked creation is poised to gain strength and capabilities.”
Pompeo also announced new sanctions on Iran, because of its association with al-Qaeda leaders, and a reward of up to $7 million under the State Department for information that brings al-Qaeda top leader Muhammad Abbatay to justice. He urged United Nations members and all countries to sanction Iran, citing the UN Security Council Resolution 1267.

Beijing-Linked Group Tries to Sway US Media With Reporter Trips, Dinners With Execs

A group tied to Beijing has organized trips to China for more than 120 journalists from almost 50 U.S. media outlets since 2009, as part of a broad campaign to deepen the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) influence in the United States.
Alongside trips for journalists, the group has organized trips for current and former lawmakers, courted media executives from major publications via private dinners, and aimed to cultivate a group of “third party supporters” in the United States to generate positive opinion articles on China that would appear in Western media outlets.
The goal of this campaign, dubbed “United Front work” by the Party, is to “make Americans receptive to Beijing’s form of authoritarianism,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a speech last October.
By targeting foreign news outlets, the regime hopes to limit negative media coverage of Beijing, while boosting favorable coverage, Grant Newsham, a senior fellow at Washington-based think tank Center for Security Policy, said in an email.
Its target for 2010 was to place an average of three articles a week in various publications containing statements in support of China. In 2009, the firm “assisted or directly influenced” the publication of 26 opinion articles and quotes within 103 articles, the filing stated.

Chinese Companies’ Overseas Offices and Expat Organizations Serve as Beijing’s Outposts

The documents exposed that the CCP maintains close ties with state-owned businesses and has set up liaison offices with chambers of commerce in various countries to serve as connections to its United Front Work Department. This Party agency is tasked with infiltrating countries through business, cultural, and educational exchanges in order to spread its propaganda, influence local elites, and suppress dissident groups.
The leaked documents come from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Liuzhou city, Guangxi Province. In September 2017, Liu Chuanlin, deputy director of the Liuzhou branch of the CCP’s rubber-stamp legislature, led a five-member delegation to Russia and Greece. During the trip, the delegation received a “warm reception and service” from Chinese state-owned enterprises and local Chinese chambers of commerce, the documents stated.
The “thank you letter” from the Liuzhou Foreign Affairs Office to Huawei Greece stated that the Liuzhou delegation received strong assistance and warm hospitality from an employee at the company’s credit insurance system department, and a sales representative from Huawei’s representative office in Greece.
The leaders of the pro-CCP Chinese expat organizations in foreign countries have been rewarded for their services and contribution to the Chinese regime by being recommended to be VIP guests for the Liuzhou Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference committee meeting. The committee is a high-level political advisory body and a central part of the CCP’s United Front Work Department.
In the CCP’s recommendation form, then-chairman of the Guangxi General Chamber of Commerce in Thailand pledged his loyalty to the Party.

Taiwan Restrictions Removed to Address Beijing Threats, Says Pompeo

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Monday that his recent decisions about Taiwan were made with great consideration, while reiterating the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to the world.
Pompeo was answering a question about his recent decisions to lift decades-old “contact guidelines” on how U.S. officials should interact with their Taiwanese counterparts, to have U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft visit the self-ruled island this week, and to issue a joint statement on mass arrests in Hong Kong.
Beijing has lashed out at the Trump administration over the two moves regarding Taiwan, which the Chinese regime claims is part of its territory. China’s hawkish state-run media Global Times, in recent editorials, slammed the moves as the Trump administration’s “last-ditch madness” while threatening war and suggesting actions in the coming days to nail Pompeo to the “pillar of shame.”

PBS: Attorney Who Called for Violence Terminated

The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) said Tuesday that a lawyer who made comments about violence is no longer employed by the broadcaster.
Michael Beller, who was listed as the principal counsel for PBS, was captured on a hidden camera calling for violence before the election.
