A New York Democrat's bill that would allow the governor or his surrogates to detain individuals who pose a threat to public health "by a single order ... in a medical facility or other appropriate facility" sparked fierce backlash online.
New York State Assemblyman N. Nick Perry is sponsoring Bill A416, which will be taken up by the Assembly's Health Committee on Wednesday.
Many critics of the bill tied it to austere measures taken by local and state officials with regards to the coronavirus pandemic, although earlier versions of the bill were introduced as far back as the 2015-2016 legislative session.

So disturbing. NY bill allows for the *removal and detention* of anyone who 'may be a danger to public health.'
Yes, that’s purposely undefined.
Yes, it will be used, at least one day, to forcibly remove you or your children from your home for whatever reason the state sees fit.

The bill requires the governor "or his or her delegee" to apply for a court order authorizing a detention within three business days.

Yeah, it might sound "normal" but at the end, they'll wind up abusing of its powers to arrest pretty much anybody just because or due to a particular partisanship or religion.

A fifth woman has reported being punched by a stranger at the same Brooklyn subway station, cops said Sunday.
A man was busted in connection with four of the East Williamsburg attacks last week, then released from custody by Friday, The Post reported. The fifth alleged attack at the station occurred Saturday, although it is unclear if it is tied to the others.

So now it's more important to get a new law approved to arrest alleged covidose people than arresting and throwing criminals in jail.

Democratic congresswoman to vote on House floor 6 days after announcing positive coronavirus test

Rep. Gwen Moore announced on Dec. 28 that she tested positive for coronavirus

Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis., said she intends to vote on the House floor on Sunday, despite announcing six days ago that she tested positive for coronavirus, as Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., hunts for every vote she can get in her push to reprise her role as House speaker.
Moore announced on Dec. 28 that she had tested positive for coronavirus, though she did not specify which day she tested positive. She has not yet said if she has tested negative for COVID-19. Fox News' inquiry to Moore's office was not immediately returned.
Meanwhile, three other members of Congress will be allowed to vote on Sunday via "special arrangements" because they are still in their quarantine windows despite testing negative for the virus, Politico's Heather Caygle and Melanie Zanona reported.

What on earth was that congresswoman thinking!?  
Voting might be important but staying away from fellow congresspeople was a must if she had already contracted the deadly !!

Sweden official defends Christmas trip to Canary Islands

Dan Eliasson is head of the civil contingencies agency, which earlier in December had texted all Swedes urging them to avoid travel.
He was photographed in Las Palmas airport on the island of Gran Canaria.
Mr Eliasson insisted the trip was necessary "for family reasons".
He told Swedish media that he had "given up a lot of trips during this pandemic" but thought this one was necessary because he had a daughter living in the Canaries.
"I celebrated Christmas with her and my family," he told Expressen newspaper. He also said he had been worked remotely while in the Canaries.

And Sweden was supposed to be one of the least corrupt countries around the world.
Oh but breaking their own rules for family reasons is allowed if you're a politician, right California Governor Newsom?

Man arrested after entering Emperor Naruhito's Tokyo residence

A 29-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into the Tokyo residence of Emperor Naruhito, where he reportedly spent two hours before being discovered, local media said Sunday.
The man, who has not been named, entered the usually heavily guarded Akasaka residential complex for imperial family members through the adjacent guesthouse on Saturday night, Fuji News Network (FNN) said.
He was caught by the imperial guard near the residence of Princess Yuriko, the great-aunt of Emperor Naruhito, about two hours after he broke in, the broadcaster said, quoting police officials.
FNN said the man had gained access via the entrance gate of the guesthouse, which was not guarded at the time.
The break-in was also reported by TBS news, which said the suspect had told police: “I wanted to meet members of the imperial family.”

So he thought he was entitled to visit the royal family on Sunday, his day off?
