The question here is, what is more important? Independence? Peace? But shouldn't that be their choice? In fact, shouldn't they be allowed to have BOTH like every other nation?
I need not even revisit the peace accord, merely directing readers to points #7 which discusses the "independence of the State of Palestine," and #9 which "Facilitates the integration of the State of Palestine into the regional and global economy."
The Peace Plan outlines the Nation of Palestine to be finalized after four years, with a section of East Jerusalem as its capital. And land seized by Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War would revert to Palestine. This never happened before. Of course, the proposal has its critics. And Palestine had treated all previous proposals as dead on the water since the 90s.
But the article was quite incorrect on part of President Mahmoud Abbas whom they said would not consider any future of the plan. In fact, talks may continue. Heck, from the same article you posted, it stated "a number of Arab states have come in support of the plan - something that was unthinkable in the past when Arab regimes feared the reaction of the Arab public to even the mention of normalisation of relations with Israel." And Jared Kushner stated they are awaiting any suggestions from Palestine, leaving the door open.
Of course Hamas is against it. But that's to be expected.

Keep into account that there was NO PALESTINE STATE before the allies defeated the Axis and the League of Nations allowed Britain to take control of the newborn states. They weren't independent at all! They'd been territories under Ottoman control and that's it. Britain had the intention to create a Jewish state that would occupy the modern Israel-Palestine-Jordan territories. Negotiations with the Arabs, that didn't really own all of the disputed area reduced it to over 72% of the land for Jordan (or Transjordan or Jordan Palestine) and the other 28% to Israel or Jewish Palestine. But Arabs asked for more and here's where the real issue emerged. From the very beginning they simply refused to accept the Jewish Palestine state now Israel as an existing entity. The Israeli declaration of Independence and the recognition of that newborn state by the incumbent US President made it a legally binding foundation of a new state. They didn't include Jordan as part of their territory. Still, there had been negotiations between the British and the Arabs, again recall the Arabs weren't an independent nation or group of nations at all, where they tried to redraw the borders several times. Still, what's now Israel was pretty much included in the lands that Israel claimed as their own in 1948.
In theory there was no need for a Palestine State for it should have been included in modern Jordan from the very beginning. Even so Israel has gone through negotiations, wars, and ended up giving away more and more territories... and got pretty much nothing in return. Arabs will ALWAYS claim more and more lands, no matter how much land Israel would agree to disown permanently.
Recall that as winners, the allies were in a position where THEY could define how the borders would be drawn, without British aid, Arabs would not be able to even claim that the Kingdom of Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Syria or Lebanon even exist as independent nations. They'd still be known as Arab tribes under Ottoman rule otherwise.

Regardless of the source, the "New Way Forward" act actually rips apart America's border security in such an unprecedented way. In fact, it totally shreds the Immigration and Naturalization law, and nullifies the ability to deport someone if they committed a felony of any sort.
