PNG Gauntlet: A Free PNG Optimizer - Myownfriend - 12-01-2010

I've been using this program from a couple of months and before that I used the paid version of this called PNGOutWin for about two years for both RPG Maker and my websites. Both are GUI version of Ken Silverman's PNGOUT command line program. It takes out any extra information in a png file that isn't image data and then optimizes and compress the actual image data without any loss of quality. Using this I've been able to make some PNG up to 75% smaller though the percentage varies.

75%? Dang, that is a lot!

I'm gonna test it out, especially since it doesn't lose quality :)

Thank you for post! :>

No problem. The max that I've been able to shrink something is like 75%, usually it's like 10-25%. Either way it helps.

Also, if you want to take it around with you on your flashdrive or something. You can just take the PNGGauntlet folder in Program Files and copy it to you flashdrive and boom, you have an instant portable version.

P.S. Love the hell out of your avatar btw :-)

Ah, still very useful! Especially, and I hope I'm not crazy, if I combine two tilesets and would like for it to load faster. It would still compress the size for it, right? :P
I don't have a flash card sadly, but I do have a PSP. Even if it worked, I doubt I'd find something to use it for xD

Oh, why thank you! A person named Colours made it for me :)

Again, no problem lol

But everyone, please remember that as much as this helps, having efficient code and using graphics and sound efficiently will reduce your projects size much more. In fact, I might make a post about ways you can shrink the size of your project.
