One symptom of dementia is a depression-driven lack of appetite. At times, you can get someone to eat their meals. Other times, they refuse to even open their mouth and you wonder if intravenous feeding is an option. And the hyperactive sweet tooth that they get is obnoxious at best.

Today, my dad was on the no-food diet, refusing to eat anything unless it was ice cream. Well, he had some grapes, but they were hella sweet. Otherwise, he wanted nothing unless his sweet tooth was to be appeased.

Well, I tricked my dad... sorta. His doctor recommended he drink supplemental drinks like Boost or Ensure to help him out. Unfortunately, he hates those vehemently. So, I wondered... "What if I added a scoop of ice cream and blended it?" It came out rather ... soggy... because the ensure wasn't close to freezing point, so I took the concoction and put it in the freezer for about two hours. After that, the top was like hard ice cream with milky ice cream liquid underneath. Add a spoon and stir it up, and it's almost like a Wendy's Frosty! Add another hour, and boom! An Ensure Milkshake with 13 grams of protein!

It lasted five minutes tops!

I lost my balance. I got it back, so no worries. Kind of weird though.

Why would ANYONE think storming Area 51 to "See them Aliens" is a good idea? Shocked I don't think it's a good idea. Sarcasm

Well, today I have uploaded a new version of my conlang's dictionaries. Yeah, I know, they won't become popular ever, but I do love my conlang as to ignore it and leave it alone. Laughing Actually I have included some new terms they were missing like bonus or Einas. I don't know why I had never thought about it before. Laughing + Tongue sticking out

Oh, I also promoted mkxp and HiddenChest online! Shocked I wish more people knew about them as to revive the Ruby era of RM games. Laughing Yeah, yamina was there as well partaking in some preferred version of the engine kind of discussion. I don't blame them if they prefer XP over the others. Laughing

Well, look at RPGMakerWeb's adverts.
It promotes RMXP in their Portal Page as the most powerful engine, while the others as 'Easy for Beginners' Laughing + Tongue sticking out

I'm going back n forth from my PC to my dad a lot. And today looks to be a good day for a change!
He's more up and about, and hadn't needed the walker but once! The past week, it was walker city. And I got him to have ... FOOD! REAL FOOD! Oh, I cheated.... the chocolate ilk was actually a protein drink that has 16 grams of protein per serving. Suck that HungryMan dinner! 22 grams of protein for one of their chicken dinners! And I got him to drinking a V8 Fusion blend that give him a hella lot of vitamins and minerals, one glass equals a full serving of fruits and veggies! Top that with the chicken this morning and his meal I just served him AND his medicine!

Confused Happy It's like he went from stage7 Dementia to Stage 6? Actually getting better?

RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 07-16-2019

Last week, I set up an appointment to see my father's doctor so I could discuss some matters. And today was that day I saw him. I informed him about my father's sleeping behavior and the night terrors he's been having, issues with his eating pattern or lack thereof, and so forth. He does have advanced Dementia afterall.

Granted, my father wants nothing but Ice Cream for his meals, or at least most of the time. But I surprised him when I mentioned the substitute chocolate milk that gives 16grams of protein in a mere 8oz glass. And how I've been getting him full servings of fruits n veggies. But knowing how the depression caused by Dementia is directly related to lack of appetite, I asked the doc about medication.

Prescribed now is a little blue pill.

NOT THAT LITTLE BLUE PILL!!!!

This medication is supposed to be mild and taken at bedtime. Once a night, he told me that there should be a noticeable difference by next Monday. It would be great if it works. But....

A three months supply for just $5 bucks? Why did he not suggest this before?

RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 07-16-2019

Just a single word crosses my mind after reading the previous post... Placebo! Shocked
Nah, it couldn't be, right? Laughing

RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 07-17-2019

Nope.

Now I will say this. I was very busy last night, so much so that I was up till 5am. Extensive PC work. But during that time, my dad had his first sound sleep in weeks. An immediate effect.

Next month Costa Rica will start the migration to the digital public TV transmissions as the sole standard for all audio visual transmissions that require any antenna. This process should successfully conclude next year. It's not like public TV channels have anything worth watching most of the time besides newscast and sports. Such a development should open the doors wide open for 5G phone transmissions as well, but Huawei is probably gonna impose its towers and the rest of their technology here... Confused We aren't safe here! Shocked
