+1!

RE: What's on your mind? - kyonides - 07-05-2015

not a -1 nor a +1 but a === it's 5th already so...

Lately I've been listening to and watching bands via youtube so I could vote for my favorite songs or just let a forum admin on another board check which songs will be added to a setlist he will be working on by means of working with the Phase Shift engine. We suggested including songs like Godsmack's Awake or Mudvayne's Happy? (that I just dislike), some Muse's, Kiss's, Iron Maiden's and Oxymoron's songs I never heard about ever before among many others. I like rock it's just that I'm not a fanatic and people around me might still find rock bands either satanic or too rebellious or destructive.

My poor kitty last night got one of my fishing hooks in her lips and had to go to the emergency vet to get it removed.

I guess I could say I caught a catfish.

Ow.... Sad

This is a pretty neat movie, so I started adapting it for the small stage. I finished the rough draft in about a week, did some editing and punching up, and revisions in the second week, and ran through the script last night with some lego guys as stand ins for wizards and aliens.

Download the dogshit act 1 done with lego guys who don't stand up!

This was a lot of fun to do, and my throat still hurts from doing all the voices. I started filming act 2, but ran out of patience/wanted to play zelda instead.

I wrote a letter from the perspective of a Vrkhazhian alkad (soldier). Aditionally, I recommend reading it while listening to this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDx2YH-UlPs]
Quote:Today is the 34th day of the 2nd Month in the Season of Growing of the 144th Year of The Empire,

I am writing this to report on the condition of the City of r-Chabekdad-r-Ifbimed, which has been colloquially named "The City of the Crows". I am a commander of a small group of 60 Alikdad among 12 other groups, making a total of 720 Alikdad. We were all ordered by the glorious Emperor Iqhamek Qhatari VI to protect this Pillar City from the invading demons and Hollow Men.
In the beginning of my post, the city was safe and our positions were still held. For numerous months we were able to hold back advancing demons from the city. That was, until things began to happen two days ago:
At first, the earth all around us shook and trembled mightily, then, from the sands rose the Mmangat, who immediately began attacking us, enveloping us and drowning us within their forms. The presence of these creatures along with the continuing assault from the demons and Hollow Men were too much for us to handle and all of our defenses broke. The vile creatures had invaded the city. However, the earth suddenly shook and trembled yet again but this time it much stronger. Then, the ground had split open becoming a huge pit and from it a terrible and massive serpent rose from it, as high and as large at the Wall of Yat-Vrkhazh itself.
With all that occurred, I knew this Glorious Pillar of Civilization would crumble and fall. We simply didn't have the numbers anymore nor the resources to save this doomed city; we had to evacuate the city.
As my group and I were escorting the civilians to safety, I was attacked by a Mitsim which I then slayed but not before it had fatally wounded me within the stomach. So with what energy I have left, I am writing this letter and sending it by messenger so that I can die having done my last duty.
Please, tell my wife and children that I love them.

From,
Rizhi Hamkari, commander of the 7th group
It was never sent... and it is one of many letters found near the city when the players travel to the desolate city.

Note: The Wall of Yat-Vrkhazh is Yat-Vrkhazh's largest and tallest mountain.

Still waiting for next generation PS4/X-Box 1 to justify their existence. The duality of the situation drives me nuts; why make two machines when they're practically the same? One is white, one is black. One renders X way, the other renders Y way. It makes hardly a tangible difference. One has InFAMOUS : Second Son, the other has Halo, but having "exclusive" games... okay, I went with PS4 for the InFAMOUS game, I don't really care about Halo.

Besides that, the technology from last gen to this gen hasn't really made much of a difference. As such, a PS4, in my mind, is just PS3 with a better graphics card and improved draw distance. You could hit me with a spreadsheet of data and specs, but it would be moot until these developers actually DO something with it, hopefully without having to file for bankruptcy afterwards.

PC is KING but... I honestly can't stand PC gaming anymore, either, especially since Steam, it just hasn't been the same. It always comes down to not being able to connect to the server, the DRM is acting up, the old game being incompatible with the new graphics card, etc. I'm a busy, grown ass man, I don't have the patience for stupid crap these days, so I've stopped PC gaming in 2012 (unless you count classic emulators and roms). I'd rather just not play the game than have to go out and downgrade my graphics card.

On a positive note, InFAMOUS : Second Son was... alright. Not great, mind you, but I think it's the closest thing we'll get to a masterpiece for awhile, since none of the other big players in the industry seem to be doing anything exciting. Well, there is the Final Fantasy VII remake, but it's being handled by Square Enix and that makes me quite a bit worried. It's too bad they can't contact a more successful and experienced company, such as Rock Star Games, and have them make it proper. I don't really trust SE with their own intellectual properties, it's quite sad.

Sorry about the rant. I've got a lot of more serious things going on in my life, complaining about something less life impacting is the only way I can get my mind of things. I'm not going up shit creek, mind you, it's just been a stressful year regardless.

It gets even more stressful when you try to wind down with a video game, sit through an hour of updates, then watch it crash and burn upon New Game. I've played shitty RPG Maker games more stable than that! It's almost like the industry reads an RPG Maker blog, "Six Things That'll Ruin Any RPG Maker Game", and checks off all six items just for the sake of self sabotage. It's as if Ubisoft is running a sweatshop and this is the way the employees protest, passively aggressively, paying off the QA team to look the other way.

With tonight's plans ruined, perhaps I'll just play a classic rom. I'd ask you to cross your fingers for me and hope it works, but really, you don't have to do that... these things usually work :)

*Runs off to play Vector Man for Sega Genesis*

When I first bought my PS3 I felt like it was about to last for many years being a great diversion, an escape from boring reality and such stuff... but it was just "it". I played FF13 and thought how ridiculous and ashamed I felt for wasting my time playing such crap. Missions? Oh yeah, keep killing monsters here and there and beyond... Can you even call that a real quest system? I also purchased GoW3 and it looked nice but at the end I just use my PS3 to watch shows online.
