I am a Doctor Who fan of the classic era, indeed!

I just obtained a couple of Tom Baker episodes from the 70's, both on the time traveler's home planet: The Deadly Assassin, and The Invasion of Time. Both of which tested the character, seeing how far he would go against the most dangerous of threats. And the first feature, The Deadly Assassin, is noted as the first time the Doctor had ever been without a companion.

Oh goddamit, every time someone mentions Doctor Who I remember that I need to catch up on 100 new episodes I missed. XD

Also like most people I got into it during the reboot/reincarnation with the 9th doctor.

RE: What's on your mind? - DerVVulfman - 09-28-2014

He's been classified as the 9th, but he's actually the 10th:

Hartnell ... Doctor 1
Troughton .. Doctor 2
Pertwee .... Doctor 3
T. Baker ... Doctor 4
Davison ... Doctor 5
C.Baker ... Doctor 6
McCoy ... Doctor 7
McGann ... Doctor 8 (Yes, the FoxTV/BBC movie guy is official)
'John Hurt!' ... The War Doctor (doesn't consider himself the doctor)
Eccleston ... Doctor 9 (actually the 10th doctor, but doesn't see his previous life as good)
Tennant ... Doctor 10
Smith .... Doctor 11
Capaldi ... Doctor 12 (but actually the 13th, and used his last regeneration)... Last doctor presumably

To see what I mean about John Hurt, you should see a feature they made: "Day of the Doctor". It includes a short subject 1-shot with Paul McGann. Yep, he did come back.

Neil Gaiman (writer for the series) came up with a possible explanation - that the regen limit is like the speed limit. It's not impossible to break it but it was enforced by the other Time Lords and therefore going over 12 regens would simply have big consequences.

That's not canon though, as he says.

The Master did go beyond his initial 12 regenerations. However, he did that by actually stealing the life essence from Teela's father (Tom Baker era). To restart his own regenerations, Teela's father had to die.

Yeah, that's actually where I stopped watching (the War Doctor being remembered as a legitimate Doctor). It's always between seasons that I forget stop watching.

I have a bit of a first world problem on my hands because I managed to get myself locked out of my Blizzard account. In an ironic twist because of my authenticator which is meant to keep your account from getting locked in the first place. Apparently someone tried to hack Blizzard a while back (I'm sure everyone is surprised) and their heavy-handed solution was to reset all their authenticator serials.

Not really too much of a problem because all you have to do is go through a simple account recovery process and show them a valid form of "government approved" identification.

Thing is... I'm a paranoid antisocial psycho and I don't feel comfortable using my real info online. I registered as Green Raven from 123 Fake Street on top of Lolipop Mountain. I have no valid form of identification to show them.

So now I need to convince someone from customer support to let me back into an account that I created using fake info. This calls for a Picard moment...

i have what's known as restless brain sydrome. i'll give you an example -

why do we have shirtsleeves and pantlegs instead of shirtarms and pantsleeves?

why do we put shirts in dressers, dresses in closets, and get dressed in bathrooms where we take showers when we put clothes in closets to keep them dry and so we don't have to fold them, even though nobody folds anything in their dresser anyway so what difference does it make?

see, i know how to ask the tough questions. like why is it that people who dont know how to swim are allowed to join the navy? they don't let you in the army without arms, and you wouldnt join the airforce if you didnt know how to fly would you?

I forgot to tell you folks; I'm back to full-time work until around the new year so I'll be somewhat less active around these parts. :(
