As a linguist myself I'm actually paying quite close attention to the developments. I speak English French and Spanish, am learning Japanese in the little spare time I have and plan to learn Arabic later so all this grammar is giving me a nerd-gasm.

According to something I read on the internet, apparently they give out college scholarships for people who can speak Klingon now. Maybe if you make a big pop culture hit, one day they'll give out scholarships for people who can read and write your languages. :D

The closest I've even come to contemplating languages in my project are rather simple-minded. One method would be a simple letter cypher, similar to Al-Bhed writing in Final Fantasy X (although I come to find that "language" is more complex than one would think.) Another method would be a change of fonts, from one using a standard recognizable text to another with completely made-up letters. However, I find your professional and academic approach to be very intriguing!

There is a cat outside of my window that keeps howling because it's in heat, I want to go out and throw a boot at it like one of those ol' timey cartoons!
My first conlang, Arkhean I tried make it as SLavic-looking as possible, so I took Russian words and modified them heavily to make them almost unrecognizable. I like it.

My current one I'm working on Vrkhazhiy is like the Latin to my Arkhean, in the sense that is the linguistic ancestor to it. I'm plannic on making it a triconsonantal root system language with Arabic and Hebrew influence, it's rather complex...

I also find rather interesting is how tricon languages derive words...
take for example Hebrew Tochnah "software" (T-K-N is the root that means "design") which now has derivations of the word use the pattern CoCCah, putting a root into this pattern will make a form of software:

Gonvah - "pirated software" from G-N-V "steal, take"
Lomdah - "educational software" from L-M-D "learn"

I am so ... TIRED... at work.

Ya know how it is in cold weather. Your body decides to go sleepy on ya, and I have been doing nothing but yawning all day. It's only 5:30pm and it's already 31 degrees outside. And it's supposed to rain 'n sleet later on tonight. Tomorrow, it won't even be 10 degrees.

RE: What's on your mind? - MetalRenard - 01-07-2014

I'm exhausted too. u_u

RE: What's on your mind? - Ahzoh - 01-08-2014

I survived a day of -40 degree Celsius weather yesterday, still cold today...

I also learn negative absolute temperature is hotter than positive...

RE: What's on your mind? - Kain Nobel - 01-09-2014

I've been so freaking sleepy too, but I'm suspecting it's mostly due to this damn anticoagulant medication. Was making love the other day and, upon finishing ( ;D ), I seriously thought somebody stabbed me in the head or something. Not joking. Maybe a couple of perverted ninjas were waiting for me to climax before they decided to assassinate me. Oh no? I'm not bleeding? Oh, okay. Either way, something was terribly wrong, so I went to the doctor and the doctor said...

"No more monkeys jumpin' on the bed!"

...No, actually he discovered a blood clot in one hemisphere of the brain.

That left me questioning stuff like "Has this, unnoticed only by thyself, made me temporarily retarded?" The medication is working, I can tell, because just writing alone feels way different to me. Foreign. Something feels off, like subject-noun relationship or something. Did I forget to use a predicate? What's a predicate? I'll google it later. That and I've been sleeping so much and, when I'm awake, it seems like I'm thinking harder just to write a sentence out. Or I return to the toilet 2 or 3 times to make sure I flushed. But then I wind up at Little Ceasers with somebody telling me "Ahem, sir, your pants are unbuttoned and your fly is halfway down." D'oh!

Other than sleeping, I've been watching TV. Oh lord, some of the crap on television makes my eyes do a barrel roll. Not trying to say it's all bad. Ancient Aliens was cool for a couple days but, oh lord, I can't STAND IT anymore ;_; ALIENS ALIENS, EVERYTHING IS ALIENS.

They do make some neat points, I'm not going to deny that. But after a couple days its like... I don't know. It gets me aggravated listening to all the nonsense. It's like the show doesn't believe that maybe, just maybe, the human race is a relatively self-sufficient, self educating, inventive group of beings with a bit of a wild imagination (and maybe a pinch or two of ignorance.) Don't make us bored, damnit, or we'll invent a new science! Issac Newton one day was so bored that he was fascinated by a falling apple and created what we now know today as the study of gravity and physics!

I mean, that's all we do is try to invent stuff and one-up our past innovators, am I right? Just look at the improvements in medical technology, video games, military equipment, etc. And lots of it is a company or state secret, patent, etc. "They made such accurate cuts in the stones that it must be ALIENS." Or... maybe some humans built it just to make you say to yourself "What the fack!?" Then they went and hid or destroyed their tools because they don't want others to know how they did it. Just a theory.

Sorry about the rant, I'm just up and I'm grouchy and glad to be at my armchair like an armchair expert should be. Well... I never claimed to be an expert on armchairs, but that's besides the point! So much on again, off again sleeping drives a person nuts when all they want to do is be up and doing something but they keep getting tired and falling asleep.

...on that note, I'm going to take another nap. After that, hopefully I can get back up and continue my work, already a couple days behind! :|

RE: What's on your mind? - KasperKalamity - 01-09-2014

my senile grandpa called the gas company to shut off his heat. i was at his (now my) trailer for 5 hours last night waiting for these jackanapes from the gas company to show up. originally, they "didn't" have anyone to come out for 2-3 business days, which would put me at monday with no heat. SO I called the illinois commerce commission, and they called the gas company's executive office, and my gas got turned back on last night. FUCK. when i got there to wait for them, it was 58*F inside, and by the time they actually got there, it was almost 28*F.

tl;dr- i fought the utility company, and i won, and also bought a trailer and don't have internet yet.

Since I like to watch animated series,I chose to watch some of them like Hulk and the agents of SMASH and Avengers United and man how lame they are! The graphicss may look great but the plots are ridiculous.

RE: What's on your mind? - Kain Nobel - 01-10-2014

Still sleepy and feeling like crap, managed to stay up 5 hours, just finished a can of Monster. Entranced by the TV, fascinated by stories of "ancient astronauts", awaiting aliens and jokingly blaming illuminati for life's troubles XD

BTW, happy birthday guys (Kyonides and KasperKalamity)! :P

What do you expect with something that has She-Hulk in it. Seriously... she had a comic series of her own and one adventure she had to team up with SANTA CLAUS! Never really a serious character.

Try some DC comic movies. I wasn't into Green Lantern. But the first dvd, Green Lantern: First Flight, was their answer to 'Training Day' . Yep, you read that right. Picture Sinestro (still a lantern) in Denzel's role. And then there's the Batman/Superman features of 'Public Enemies' and the sequel 'Apocalypse'. That pair returned the voice talents of Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly from the 90's series. And if you want something with more.... 'grit'.... you could try 'Batman Under the Red Hood'. That one was part of the DC continuity and deals with events from the famed 'A Death in the Family' story arc (rather... painfully).
